If Blizzard has closed your World of Warcraft account for real-money trading (RMT), sign in to the affected Battle.net account and check the Account Restrictions page for the penalty details and an appeal option. If an appeal is available, submit one there, explain the relevant activity and dates clearly, and provide records that support your account. If someone else may have accessed the account, use Blizzard’s hacked-account recovery process as well as the appeal route.
What Blizzard’s RMT notice means
Blizzard’s standard account-closure message says an account was closed because it was involved “either directly or indirectly” in an unauthorized exchange of in-game property for real-world currency. The message also says, “The account holder is responsible for all activity on the account.” These are general statements in Blizzard’s notice; they do not establish what happened in any particular player’s case. Read the reproduced account-closure wording.
“Indirectly involved” may be the wording that prompts questions about a particular trade, service, or account access. The notice alone does not identify the evidence Blizzard relied on or explain how a specific event was classified. Avoid treating the standard wording—or another player’s forum account—as proof of what happened on your account.

- Sign in to Battle.net with the account affected by the closure and open the Account Restrictions page.
- Read the listed penalty and check whether the page offers an appeal. Blizzard says penalty details may also be sent to the email associated with the account, so check that inbox and its spam folder.
- If an appeal option is available, use it to contest the listed restriction. Keep the notice and any support correspondence for reference.
Prepare a clear, factual appeal
Blizzard’s available guidance does not prescribe a required evidence checklist or promise that particular records will change the outcome. A useful appeal should make it straightforward to understand what you are disputing and what you know about the relevant activity.

- Includes access to World of Warcraft and WOW Classic. The most recent modern WOW expansion is sold separately.
- Identify the affected WoW license and the penalty shown on the restriction page.
- Give a concise timeline of relevant events you know about, such as gold or item transfers, paid services, other people’s access to the account, or unusual account activity.
- Describe which part of the notice you believe is mistaken and why. Separate what you know from what you suspect.
- Attach or describe relevant transaction or account-security records if you have them. Never include your password, authentication codes, or other account secrets.
These are practical suggestions, not a Blizzard-mandated checklist. Do not invent an explanation, omit a relevant fact to make the case sound stronger, or claim evidence you cannot provide.
If someone else may have accessed your account
If you suspect unauthorized access, follow Blizzard’s hacked-account recovery guidance and mention the suspected compromise in your appeal. Account recovery addresses the security problem; it does not replace asking Blizzard to review the penalty. Blizzard’s account-holder responsibility language means that suspected compromise is relevant context to explain, not an automatic guarantee that the closure will be reversed.

Wait for the response and avoid duplicate appeals
Follow the status shown for the restriction and wait for the response to your submitted appeal. Do not open duplicate tickets, send repetitive messages, or mislead Support. Blizzard’s support interaction policy prohibits spamming and abusive behavior, and its appeal guidance warns: “Repeated or abusive appeals won’t help your case. Appeals sent after a final review may be ignored.” See Blizzard’s reproduced appeal guidance.
If the page says the review is final or no longer offers an appeal, the available guidance does not establish a guaranteed escalation route. A forum post or social-media post is not a substitute for the formal channel: a Blizzard forum representative has said appeals must be made through tickets. Use the formal support route described in Blizzard’s forum guidance.

What an appeal can—and cannot—tell you
The cited Blizzard material does not establish how RMT is detected, what evidence was used in an individual case, how long an appeal takes, how often appeals succeed, or whether a penalty will be reduced. Blizzard’s closure notice also says that further details may not be provided in some cases. Submit an accurate account and relevant records, but do not assume that filing an appeal guarantees a response time, a particular level of review, or a reversal.
