If your VMware partner can no longer renew or support your licenses, contact Broadcom Sales or an Account Manager, or ask another authorized Broadcom partner or distributor in your region whether it can quote your specific product and contract. First gather your contract and entitlement details, then check your Broadcom portal access. A replacement partner is not automatically guaranteed to inherit your account, and a renewal does not by itself establish that support will be restored retroactively.
Start with the commercial channel—not technical support
A license renewal is a commercial request. Broadcom says customers can renew expired licenses or purchase licenses through Broadcom Sales or an Account Manager, and can also buy through authorized partners or distributors in their region. See Broadcom’s purchase and renewal guidance.
If you do not know your Broadcom Account Manager or want to find another channel, use the Broadcom Partner Locator. Before proceeding, ask a prospective partner or distributor to confirm that it is authorized for the relevant VMware product, serves your country or region, and can quote your particular product and contract. Authorization to sell in a region does not guarantee that a specific reseller can take over your existing arrangement.
Gather the details needed to locate your contract
Collect the information below before contacting Broadcom or a prospective partner. It helps distinguish a renewal request from a portal-access or entitlement-record issue.

- Your current contract or renewal confirmation, if available, and the contract end date.
- The VMware product name and version.
- Your Site ID and any license keys or other entitlement identifiers.
- The email address and organization associated with the Broadcom Support Portal account.
Broadcom says the Site ID is included in the Electronic Software Delivery email. For legacy VMware orders or contracts, its Site ID guidance directs customers to Customer Care with contract or license-key details if they need help locating it.
Follow this sequence to request renewal and check access
- Ask for a renewal quote. Contact Broadcom Sales or your Account Manager, or contact a prospective authorized regional partner or distributor. State the product, version, contract end date, and whether the contract has already expired. For an expired VMware contract, Broadcom says to request a support contract renewal quote through the purchase or renewal route; the ordinary license self-service options are unavailable while the contract is expired. See Broadcom’s purchase guidance and license-management guidance for expired contracts.
- Check the portal while the commercial request is underway. Sign in to the Broadcom Support Portal and open My Entitlements. Confirm you are viewing the right Site ID and check inactive products if the entitlement is not immediately visible.
- Ask Customer Care about missing records or access. Broadcom lists incorrect or missing Site ID access, a renewal recorded under a different Site ID, an expired contract, and an outstanding invoice as possible reasons an entitlement may not appear. These causes do not by themselves prove that a license has been lost. Provide contract or license-key details when asking Customer Care to help locate legacy records. See Broadcom’s missing-license troubleshooting page.
- Route changes and extensions to the commercial representative. Technical Support and Global Customer Assistance cannot approve commercial or legal changes such as extending a license, modifying an entitlement, or granting a grace period. Broadcom says these requests must go through the commercial representative; if you bought through a partner or distributor, contact that channel. If it cannot assist, contact Broadcom Sales or use the Partner Locator to identify another channel. See Broadcom’s guidance on license extensions and modifications.
Use instructions for your product and version
Do not assume that every VMware license is managed through the same portal workflow. Broadcom’s license-management information distinguishes older licensing workflows from VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) version 9.

- Wide Compatibility & Complete Package — Works with Dell XPS, Lenovo ThinkPad, HP Spectre, and most Windows laptops with USB C. Includes: Nano Docking Station (13-in-1), 3ft USB C cable (10Gbps), 140W power adapter with 5ft power cord, welcome guide, and 18-month warranty. Set up in under 2 minutes — plug and play, no drivers needed.
- Older licensing workflows: When the maintenance contract is active, the portal may provide license keys and self-service operations. For an expired contract, request a support contract renewal quote instead of expecting the usual self-service actions. A renewal does not automatically upgrade license keys.
- VCF or VVF version 9: Broadcom describes a subscription-based model in which license files replace 25-character keys. These files are managed through VCF Operations and the VMware Cloud Foundation Business Services console, not by assuming older portal license-key steps apply.
Check the product and version before following licensing instructions. See Broadcom’s license-management guidance for its description of these workflows.

- Can it quote the existing VMware product and contract in your country or region?
- Can it work with your product version and entitlement model?
- Can it coordinate with Broadcom if your Site ID, portal access, or contract records need correction?
- Will Broadcom or the new partner accept an existing renewal quote, or must a new quote be issued?
- If support has lapsed, what coverage—if any—will apply after renewal, and from what date?
Broadcom’s guidance supports purchasing through authorized regional partners and contacting the commercial channel for changes, but it does not establish automatic transfer of partner-of-record status, movement of an existing quote between resellers, or retroactive restoration of support. Confirm those points, as well as pricing and any contract-specific conditions, directly with Broadcom Sales or the prospective authorized channel.
