Use the instructions for your exact model: charger compatibility, charging lights, temperature limits and charge time vary. If these checks do not resolve the problem, stop and contact the manufacturer or seller rather than opening the tool or attempting a battery repair.
Check the power source and charging equipment
- Test the outlet. Plug in a device you know works, or follow the screwdriver manufacturer’s instructions for checking the outlet. If the charger has a mains-voltage rating, compare it with the supply where you are using it. Einhell and BLACK+DECKER manuals include power-source checks; Xiaomi also recommends confirming that the outlet works. Xiaomi support, Einhell manual, BLACK+DECKER LI3000 manual.
- Inspect the charger and cable. Look for a frayed cord, broken connector, bent plug or other visible damage. Do not use damaged mains equipment. Xiaomi advises against using a damaged charger and suggests considering replacement.
- Use the charger specified for your exact model. Connect it firmly at both ends. If your screwdriver charges in a cradle or through exposed contacts, check that the contacts line up and touch as the manual describes. A similar-looking plug does not establish compatibility: Xiaomi warns that an incompatible charger may not supply enough power, and Einhell says to use the supplied charger.
Read the charging indicators and allow the right amount of time
Check the exact model’s manual to learn what its charging light or battery indicator means. A light that is on, off, blinking or changing color cannot be interpreted consistently across brands. Charging temperature limits also differ, so follow the manual for your tool rather than applying another model’s range.
If the battery has been deeply discharged, it may need an extended time on charge. Xiaomi recommends this for its Mi Cordless Screwdriver 3.6V, but there is no universal charge time; use the period specified for your own model. Xiaomi’s model-specific charging guidance.
Check the switch before assuming the tool is faulty
After charging the tool as its manual directs, check that the direction switch is not in a center or safety-lock position. On the Einhell screwdriver covered by its instruction manual, the center position blocks the on/off switch. Other designs may work differently, so use the control instructions for your model. Stop if battery protection cuts power
The Einhell manual says its protection circuit switches the tool off when the battery is flat and warns that continuing to press the trigger after cutoff may damage the battery pack. Do not repeatedly try to force a depleted tool to run. This cutoff behavior and warning are specific to that model’s manual; consult your screwdriver’s instructions for its protection features. When to contact the manufacturer or seller
If the outlet works, the correct undamaged charger is firmly connected, the contacts are properly seated, and the model’s charging and switch instructions have not restored operation, contact the manufacturer’s service center or the seller. Xiaomi directs Mi Cordless Screwdriver 3.6V owners to official service or the seller; the Einhell manual recommends customer service if its charging checks do not solve the problem.
