Argentina’s construction-related shares are influenced by building activity, public works, costs, financing conditions, company-specific results and currency movements. Start with INDEC’s construction activity and cost indicators, then compare them with each issuer’s reported volumes, prices, costs and debt. These measures provide context—not a direct forecast of any share price.

Which indicators show whether construction activity is strengthening?

INDEC’s ISAC is a sector proxy, not a company sales report

INDEC’s Indicador Sintético de la Actividad de la Construcción (ISAC) tracks apparent consumption of construction inputs, including cement, reinforcing steel, ready-mix concrete, bricks, asphalt, lime, tiles, paint, plasterboard, glass and other materials. It can help show the direction of broad construction activity, but it does not measure the revenue or sales of a specific listed company. INDEC’s construction indicators and its ISAC input series describe the activity measure and its components.

Read annual and monthly changes together

INDEC reported that ISAC was 4.0% higher year over year in June 2026, while the first half of 2026 was 2.8% higher year over year on the original series. In contrast, the seasonally adjusted index fell 4.1% from May to June. The annual comparison describes activity relative to the same period a year earlier; the seasonally adjusted monthly comparison gives a shorter-term signal. Both can be true at once. Check the series and period before interpreting a headline number. INDEC’s June 2026 construction activity release.

How do construction costs affect the picture?

INDEC’s Construction Cost Index (ICC) for Greater Buenos Aires increased 2.6% month over month in June 2026. Within that index, materials rose 1.8%, labor 3.3% and general expenses 2.8%. The ICC is a cost-context indicator for Greater Buenos Aires, not a national cost index or a measure of any individual company’s expenses. INDEC’s construction cost index.

For an issuer, compare its own selling prices and input costs with its reported sales volumes and margins. A broad construction-cost measure can help frame the environment, but it cannot establish whether a particular producer passed costs through to customers, improved margins or absorbed higher expenses.

What to examine in a listed company’s disclosures

Loma Negra (NYSE: LOMA; BYMA: LOMA) is a useful example of a construction-exposed company because it produces cement and publishes financial results. It is one company, not a proxy for every construction-related stock in Argentina. Its disclosures identify demand, public works, inflation, exchange-rate movements, raw-material and energy costs, and wider business conditions as relevant factors. Loma Negra investor relations.

Separate volume, demand mix and pricing

Look for sales volumes and whether demand comes from private construction or public works. Those sources can move differently, so an aggregate activity number may not reveal which end markets are supporting a company. Then compare reported revenue with volume: revenue growth alone does not show whether the company sold more product, realized higher prices, or benefited from other factors.

Check earnings in the currency that matters

For the second quarter of 2026, Loma Negra reported revenue of Ps. 238,053 million, up 2.1% year over year. Adjusted EBITDA was Ps. 48,175 million, down 2.5% year over year in pesos but up 12.5% in US dollars. The differing directions show why currency basis and period must accompany reported figures; neither currency view should be treated as a standalone share-price signal. The company also reported net debt of Ps. 273,650 million. Loma Negra financial information.

Track costs, debt and currency exposure

Review the company’s disclosures for energy and raw-material costs, debt and refinancing needs, and the currencies in which revenue, costs and liabilities are denominated. These factors help explain how construction demand may flow—or fail to flow—through to earnings. A construction indicator cannot answer those issuer-specific questions.

How should management outlook be interpreted?

In its second-quarter 2026 materials, Loma Negra said first-half volumes were below its initial expectations and described weaker demand from public works and construction companies. Management identified easing monetary conditions, real-wage recovery and improved access to credit as possible supports for second-half volumes. Those are management’s stated possibilities, not confirmed outcomes or an independent forecast. Compare such expectations with later reported results. Loma Negra’s financial disclosures.

A practical way to track the indicators

  1. Check INDEC’s ISAC release. Note whether a figure is year over year, first-half year over year, or seasonally adjusted month over month; do not treat these comparisons as interchangeable.
  2. Review the Greater Buenos Aires ICC. Separate materials, labor and general expenses, and keep the index’s regional scope in mind.
  3. Read the issuer’s latest results. Check volume, demand mix, realized pricing, margins, energy and raw-material costs, debt and currency basis.
  4. Compare company outlook with reported performance. Treat guidance and management commentary as expectations until subsequent results provide evidence.
  5. Interpret the share price separately. Activity and company results can inform an investment thesis, but neither determines what a stock will do; market pricing reflects factors beyond the indicators discussed here.

How to compare construction-exposed companies

When assessing more than one issuer, compare the same dimensions rather than assuming that all construction-related shares respond alike:

  • How directly the business is exposed to building materials, engineering or construction.
  • Its mix of private-sector demand and public works.
  • Trends in sales volume and realized pricing.
  • Sensitivity to energy and other input costs.
  • Debt levels and refinancing exposure.
  • The currencies of revenue, costs, debt and reported earnings.

The cited information supports these comparison criteria, but does not establish a complete peer list of Argentine companies with material construction exposure. Verify each company’s business and filings before comparing it with Loma Negra.
