- Restart the Mac, reconnect the power, and try charging again.

Should you replace the cable to get the update?
No replacement is identified as necessary to receive the reported firmware update. A new cable is relevant only if troubleshooting points to a faulty cable: Apple recommends testing another cable when amber flashing persists and lists the Apple USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable (2 m) as a replacement option.
