The TinyPi Pro is a compact, do-it-yourself handheld gaming kit built around an original Raspberry Pi Zero or Raspberry Pi Zero W. Pi0cket introduced it in a Kickstarter campaign in December 2018. The kit’s creator described a 1.3-inch, 240 × 240 IPS screen, built-in controls and speaker, a 400 mAh battery, and a printed case—but buyers had to supply the Raspberry Pi, and contemporary coverage says the storage card was separate too.
What is the TinyPi Pro?
Pi0cket’s TinyPi Pro was designed as a small RetroPie handheld, not a ready-to-use console. A custom board combines the display and controls, while a Raspberry Pi Zero handles the emulation processing. The project announcement describes the Pi and board connecting through pogo pins and being held together with four screws; the enclosure is made from three 3D-printed pieces. Hackster’s 2018 announcement outlines those hardware details.
The campaign describes assembly as requiring no soldering. That is a claim about the kit’s design, not a guarantee that every buyer will find assembly effortless: fitting the parts together and installing the software are still part of making the handheld work.
What did the kit include, and what did buyers need?
The project was a kit that required a separately supplied Raspberry Pi. Pi0cket specified an original Raspberry Pi Zero or Raspberry Pi Zero W with no headers fitted. Its campaign description says, “All you need to add to the kit is a Raspberry Pi Zero (original or Zero W, but make sure it has no headers).” The cited material does not establish compatibility with later models such as the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W.

Hackster’s announcement also says buyers needed to purchase a storage card separately. The sources do not specify a capacity, speed class, or card model, so there is no documented recommendation for which one to use.
Display, controls, and battery
Pi0cket specified a 1.3-inch IPS display with a resolution of 240 × 240 pixels. The custom board also carries tactile switches for the controls, an AVR microcontroller for handling those controls, an I2S audio-amplification chip, and a small speaker, according to the project announcement.

The campaign lists a 400 mAh internal battery and estimates about one hour of play per charge. That is the creator’s estimate, not an independently measured runtime; the available sources do not provide a battery test or specify conditions that would make the estimate reproducible.
Which games and systems did Pi0cket say it could run?
Pi0cket presented RetroPie as the software platform and named these systems: NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Master System, Mega Drive/Genesis, and Game Gear. The campaign also says some PlayStation 1 titles might work after configuration-file tweaks. These are creator-stated capabilities, not independent tests of every emulator or game, so the list should not be read as a guarantee that every title will run well.

Pi0cket’s website continues to list TinyPi Pro software and build-guide links, including a downloadable image described as a RetroPie image. That surviving documentation does not establish that the kit is still sold or that its software is actively maintained. The site also has a guide for a separate TinyPi build; its instructions should not be assumed to apply to the TinyPi Pro.
What happened to the Kickstarter campaign?
The Kickstarter campaign ran from December 1 through December 31, 2018. Kickstarter records 297 backers pledging £23,830 toward a £7,500 goal, and lists August 5, 2019 as the project’s last update. Hackster reported that pledges started at $62 at the time. That was a historical campaign figure, not a current price for either a kit or the Raspberry Pi required to build it.

The cited sources do not confirm that TinyPi Pro kits remain in production or are available to purchase. The continuing presence of project files and guides is useful if you already have the hardware, but it should not be treated as proof of current kit availability. Anyone considering a build should verify that a kit is actually offered and confirm the required Pi model before buying components.
