Terminator: Survivors is an announced open-world survival game from Nacon Studio Milan, set four years after Judgment Day. Players are meant to explore a world controlled by Skynet, survive its machines, and help the Resistance. The original plans for co-op and an Early Access launch have since changed: the developer’s December 16, 2025 update describes the game as single-player, with a complete first release planned but no new date. Steam currently lists the release date as “To be announced.”
What is Terminator: Survivors?
Terminator: Survivors is an open-world survival game developed by Nacon Studio Milan and published by Nacon. It is an original story in the Terminator universe rather than a retelling of the films. Nacon’s 2024 announcement described it as taking place after the first two movies; creative director Marco Ponte later said the studio intended to create a new timeline that feels like a natural extension of those films’ lore. That is the developers’ stated approach, not a claim that every continuity question has been settled. Steam’s current store listing identifies the game as single-player.
What is the story and setting?
Four years after the day humanity nearly disappeared, the player emerges from a shelter into a landscape devastated by Skynet. The official premise has the player investigating the nuclear apocalypse and the machines behind it, encountering early Skynet prototypes, and helping the Resistance begin to rise. Ponte described the story as the beginning of that resistance, seen through the player’s eyes. The Steam description also warns that the T-800 is a persistent, lethal threat and that staying in one place too long could be fatal.
What do you do in Terminator: Survivors?
The announced gameplay combines exploration, investigation, survival, combat, and building up a home base. The official store description presents a choice between confronting threats and avoiding them: players may use close- and ranged-combat equipment, or move cautiously around Skynet machines and scavengers. Establishing a home base is framed as creating a foothold for humanity while helping the Resistance.

A June 27, 2024 developer update discussed traveling on foot or by vehicle, investigating points of interest, and dealing with Skynet patrols. It named weapons and tools including sniper rifles, shotguns, pistols, light machine guns, makeshift explosives, and specialized technology. Those are details from an earlier development update, so they should be treated as announced design direction rather than a guarantee that every item will appear in the finished game.
Is Terminator: Survivors co-op?
No. The original 2024 plans included cooperative play, but Ponte’s December 16, 2025 developer update said the studio had put co-op aside and was making the game single-player. He said the decision followed internal testing and discussions with players and fans, and was intended to support the shooting and exploration experience the team wanted. The current Steam listing likewise specifies single-player.

When is Terminator: Survivors coming out?
There is no announced release date. The February 2024 announcement initially targeted Steam Early Access for October 24, 2024, and the plan was later delayed to 2025. In December 2025, the developer said the game would not launch that year, dropped Early Access in favor of a complete and polished first release, and said no replacement date had been set. Steam currently shows “To be announced” and says the game is not yet available there. Ponte said, “We don’t have a new date locked in, but we’ll let you know when we’re ready to share a new release date.”
