Elektrobit’s pre-integrated over-the-air (OTA) solution pairs EB cadian, the in-vehicle software-update foundation, with Airbiquity’s OTAmatic platform for orchestrating update campaigns. EB cadian supports updates to electronic control units (ECUs) and vehicle software; OTAmatic provides the named backend campaign-management layer in the companies’ December 19, 2022 announcement. That announcement describes the integration, but does not establish its current availability.

What is Elektrobit’s pre-integrated OTA solution?

It is a combination of vehicle-side update capabilities and backend campaign orchestration. Elektrobit describes EB cadian as a toolchain for secure over-the-air software and firmware updates. In the announced integration, EB cadian enables updates to ECUs and remote software and firmware deployment across the vehicle platform, while Airbiquity OTAmatic securely orchestrates and automates software-update campaigns.

“Pre-integrated” identifies the proposed pairing of these products; it does not mean that every OEM can deploy the same configuration without vehicle-specific integration. The announcement calls the solution highly configurable and says it is designed for mobility-industry requirements. It does not provide implementation timelines, supported vehicle models, pricing, or present-day availability.

How does EB cadian update vehicle ECUs over the air?

The architecture separates campaign and package management from execution inside the vehicle. Elektrobit’s broader OTA portfolio includes backend services, an OTA client, and onboard OTA components. The backend manages software packages and campaigns; in the vehicle, OTA components carry out updates across ECUs and report campaign status.

  1. Prepare and manage packages: The backend manages software packages and campaigns. The December 19, 2022 announcement describes support for push and pull package delivery; it does not specify which delivery mode applies to a particular deployment.
  2. Deliver the update: Packages are delivered to the vehicle for execution by onboard components. Elektrobit also describes differential-update support through Adaptive AUTOSAR, intended to reduce the amount of data transferred compared with sending a complete package.
  3. Install and track: Onboard components execute updates on the targeted ECUs, while the OTA system supports campaign status tracking. The exact selection, sequencing, and approval rules depend on the implementation and are not detailed in the cited product descriptions.

The described OTA scope is broader than ECU application software alone: it includes onboard OTA components, vehicle and ECU configurations, and security patches. A campaign that can address software across a vehicle platform should not be read as a guarantee that every ECU updates simultaneously or that every component is updated in every campaign.

What does UCM Master add?

UCM Master provides standardized functions for installing, updating, and uninstalling software in an Adaptive AUTOSAR system. Elektrobit lists self-update, rollback, standardized logging, and streaming among the functions. These capabilities address the update lifecycle: software can be installed or removed, an update can be rolled back, and update activity can be logged.

YINETTECH Fakra D Socket Angled (Female, Angled) Antenna Extension Cable DACAR 302/ATTB 2505 for Most in-Vehicle GSM Devices
  • Parameters: Connection method: Fakra female connector - Fakra female connector (angled), cable length 1.5m, Model: DACAR 302/ATTB 2505.05.
  • Compatibility: This product is suitable for most in-vehicle GSM devices, mainly used for adding or replacing in-vehicle telematics control units, emergency call systems, 4G/5G in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot modules, and other devices that require external GSM antennas to enhance signal strength.
  • Product Function: This is a dedicated coaxial cable for connecting and extending the signal transmission path of in-vehicle GSM antennas. Its core function is to flexibly extend the original vehicle GSM antenna interface to a designated location up to 1.5 meters away without significantly sacrificing signal quality.
  • Product Material: This product is specially designed and made of plastic, ensuring a long service life and resistance to damage.
  • Easy Installation: Direct replacement without adjustment, perfect compatibility, and high reliability.

Rollback is a recovery capability, not a promise that every failed update will recover automatically or without interruption. The product information supplied here does not specify rollback triggers, recovery-time targets, or the conditions under which a given ECU can use it.

Does Elektrobit OTA support Adaptive AUTOSAR and whole-vehicle updates?

EB cadian supports Linux-based Adaptive AUTOSAR systems and is designed to integrate with different cloud backends. Adaptive AUTOSAR compatibility matters when an OEM is building vehicle software on that architecture; backend flexibility matters when the OEM needs to connect vehicle-side update functions to its chosen cloud environment. The available descriptions do not enumerate supported cloud providers or version-by-version compatibility.

Elektrobit’s January 30, 2023 EB corbos Starter Kit announcement added EB cadian Sync UCM Master for standardized installation, updating, and removal on Adaptive AUTOSAR architectures. This is ecosystem context for how the UCM Master can fit into an Adaptive AUTOSAR setup, not evidence of current availability or a claim that every EB cadian deployment uses the Starter Kit.

How to assess the integration for an OEM program

The available product descriptions establish several architectural capabilities, but they do not provide performance benchmarks or enough deployment detail to decide whether a particular vehicle program is a fit. Use the following distinctions when evaluating it:

ECU and vehicle scope EB cadian supports ECU updates and remote software and firmware updates across a vehicle platform, according to the joint announcement. Which ECUs and software types are included, and how campaigns are scoped for each vehicle configuration.
Backend orchestration Airbiquity OTAmatic is the named campaign orchestration and automation platform in the pre-integrated announcement. How the proposed backend connects to the OEM’s systems and how campaign approvals and status reporting are configured.
Platform support EB cadian supports Linux-based Adaptive AUTOSAR systems; UCM Master supplies standardized software-management functions. Compatibility with the program’s specific architecture, software versions, and ECU implementations.
Recovery and security Elektrobit describes the toolchain as secure and lists rollback and standardized logging among UCM Master functions. Security controls, rollback conditions, and recovery behavior for the vehicle’s actual update design.
Bandwidth and downtime Differential-update support through Adaptive AUTOSAR is described; A/B updates are intended to avoid vehicle downtime. Which components support these methods, their operating constraints, and any measured data-transfer or downtime results.
Cloud integration and modularity EB cadian is designed to integrate with different cloud backends, and Elektrobit describes a broader portfolio of backend services, clients, and onboard components. Which components are included in the proposed configuration and how they integrate with the selected backend.

A/B updates are intended to reduce downtime by using an alternate software slot during an update, but the available descriptions do not establish that every ECU supports this method or that a vehicle will never be unavailable. No independent performance figures, data-volume measurements, or market-size figures are provided in the cited material.

Where do EB corbos and Continental CAEdge fit?

These references provide context for Elektrobit’s wider platform ecosystem, rather than changing what the Airbiquity integration is. The EB corbos Starter Kit announcement connects EB cadian Sync UCM Master with standardized OTA software management on Adaptive AUTOSAR architectures. Continental’s CAEdge announcement described a combined high-performance-computing and Elektrobit software platform that included OTA updates. Neither reference, as described here, establishes that CAEdge is part of the Airbiquity–Elektrobit pre-integrated offering.
