CommScope’s iTRACS is enterprise data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software that builds a digital twin of IT and facilities infrastructure. It combines a Windows client for building and maintaining the data model with a web application for viewing and updating it. Organizations use it to track assets and connections, manage resources such as power and space, plan capacity, and monitor infrastructure.

What is CommScope’s iTRACS?

iTRACS is designed to model infrastructure across data centers, inside plants, and outside plants. CommScope describes its digital twin as a one-to-one representation of infrastructure in past, present, and future states. The model brings together asset information, network and power connectivity, locations, status, and dependencies, rather than treating equipment records as an isolated inventory.

The platform is intended for enterprise infrastructure teams that need to plan, design, monitor, troubleshoot, simulate, or test infrastructure performance. CommScope acquired iTRACS Corporation, a provider of enterprise-class DCIM solutions, for $34.0 million in 2013, according to its 2013 annual report.

Is iTRACS a DCIM or digital-twin platform?

It is both: DCIM describes the operational software category, while digital twin describes how iTRACS represents infrastructure in a model. The model can support interactive 3D views and connectivity tracing alongside operational records and resource information. CommScope’s iTRACS brochure describes the platform as a digital twin covering IT and facility infrastructure, including areas inside and outside the data center.

In practical terms, the combination is useful when teams need to understand where equipment is, what it connects to, and how a planned change could affect related infrastructure. The platform’s extensible class structure, attributes, and open APIs are intended to accommodate different environments and integrations; the quality and usefulness of the resulting model depend on the data an organization maintains.

What are iTRACS CI and iTRACS DM?

The suite comprises two complementary components. CommScope’s 2022 announcement describes both as included with an iTRACS license, with perpetual and subscription licensing available.

Component Form Role
iTRACS Data Manager (DM) Windows client Builds and maintains the data model from existing data sources or bulk tools, and supports bulk data cleanup.
iTRACS Converged Infrastructure (CI) Web application Provides access to the model, allowing nontechnical users to self-serve and technical staff to update it as infrastructure changes.

That division separates model-building and cleanup work from browser-based access and day-to-day updates. CommScope announced the web platform, enhanced security, and interactive 3D model on September 28, 2022; see the announcement.

What can iTRACS manage?

CommScope’s product materials describe a broad set of infrastructure-management functions. The capabilities below are vendor-described features, not independently verified performance guarantees.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Assets and capacity: Track infrastructure assets and their attributes to support capacity planning and space optimization.
  • Connectivity: Trace connections end to end, from utility to end device, with information about locations, status, and dependencies.
  • Power, space, and cooling: Manage these facility resources and use capacity-planning functions to assess infrastructure needs.
  • Monitoring and operations: Use operational monitoring, dashboards, reports, and event-resolution workflows to help teams understand conditions and respond to issues.
  • Visualization: Explore infrastructure through interactive 3D views for planning and understanding relationships.
  • Integration: Use REST APIs and an extensible data model to connect third-party or internally developed systems.
  • Access control: Apply granular security to control access to the model and platform.

CommScope frames the potential economic impact in terms of lower operating expense, deferred capital expenditure, and enhanced business output, such as revenue or customer transactions. Those are the vendor’s benefit categories, not audited savings figures. The reviewed product materials do not establish an independently measured return on investment.

How is iTRACS licensed and purchased?

CommScope lists three licensing options. The FMA basis is presented in the brochure as licensing by FMA; buyers should confirm how that measure applies to their deployment when requesting a quote.

License option Maintenance and support
Perpetual, by FMA Annual maintenance and support
Subscription, by FMA Included
Subscription, by named user Included

CommScope directs prospective buyers to contact the company or an authorized reseller. The reviewed official materials do not publish list prices, a standard free trial, or self-service checkout, so cost depends on a sales quote rather than a public price list. Ask the seller to clarify licensing scope, implementation and migration needs, integrations, and support terms for your environment.

Can you buy iTRACS on Amazon?

iTRACS is enterprise software, and the documented procurement route is through CommScope or an authorized reseller. There is no supported basis for treating a generic data-center book, cable, sensor, or hardware tool as an iTRACS product. For a purchase inquiry, contact CommScope or a reseller; for product evaluation, ask about a demo.

What to assess before choosing iTRACS

Because DCIM value depends on the accuracy and upkeep of the infrastructure model, evaluate more than feature lists when considering the platform. Ask CommScope or a reseller how the deployment would handle your existing records and workflows.

  • Which infrastructure is in scope: IT, facilities, inside-plant, outside-plant, or a combination?
  • How will existing asset, connection, and power data be imported, cleaned, and kept current?
  • Which users need browser access through CI, and who will build or maintain the model with DM?
  • Which integrations are needed, and do the available APIs and data model support them?
  • How will roles and permissions be configured for technical and nontechnical users?
  • Which licensing basis fits the organization, and what services or support are included in the quote?

CommScope’s product page lists releases including iTRACS Converged Infrastructure 26.1.2 on July 30, 2026 and 26.1.1 on July 16, 2026. Release information can change; check the current iTRACS product page for the latest status.
