Its announced support combined an open online resource center, training, technical materials, webinars and penetration testing; the announcement did not report measured security outcomes or establish that every resource remains available today.
What was Hikvision Network Cyber-Protect?
Hikvision announced Network Cyber-Protect on February 22, 2022, describing it as support for professionals and dealers responsible for securing physical-security network infrastructure. The company framed misconfigured or poorly secured Internet of Things devices as a cybersecurity concern. The announcement was a Hikvision press release republished by Dark Reading, not an independent assessment of the initiative’s effectiveness.
The intended audience included Hikvision dealers, end users, partners, integrators and installers. The materials were meant to help people who use or deploy physical-security products understand cybersecurity issues and apply security practices.
What support did the initiative describe?
Online Cybersecurity Center
The release said Hikvision’s online Cybersecurity Center was free and open to dealers, end users and partners, with no login required. It described the center as a place to access cybersecurity resources. Although the announcement linked to Hikvision pages, their current availability and contents have not been confirmed here.

Six-part cybersecurity course
Hikvision said cybersecurity experts would lead a six-part course covering product cybersecurity, vulnerabilities and security in practice for physical-security practitioners. The course count describes the training announced in 2022; it does not indicate participation or effectiveness, and its current availability is unverified.
Technical materials and webinars
The announcement described white papers, technical bulletins, tip sheets, FAQs and reference guides. It also outlined a webinar series for end users and integrators or installers. These are the materials and activities the release said were included or planned at the time, not confirmation of what is available now.

Penetration testing
The release said cybersecurity experts would conduct network penetration testing and named Rapid7 as an example of a third party involved. It provides no present-day confirmation of the testing service or of an ongoing relationship with Rapid7.

Hikvision Senior Director of Cybersecurity Chuck Davis said: “While cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility, as a manufacturer it is important to communicate succinctly with the people who use and install your products and software to help them maintain cyber-secure systems.” The statement explains the company’s rationale for communicating with users and installers; it is not evidence of a measured improvement in security.

Hikvision USA Vice President of Marketing John Xiao said Network Cyber-Protect was one of several initiatives the company planned to launch in 2022 to demonstrate and maintain trustworthiness with users and security professionals. That was the company representative’s stated intention.
The announcement documents an initiative centered on information, education, webinars and testing, but reports no attack-rate reduction, security outcomes or independent evaluation. It is a historical account of what Hikvision said it launched and planned in 2022, not confirmation that each resource or activity remains active.
