Hark’s answer to “What does a GUI for an AI chatbot look like?” is not to remove chat. Its Hark Pro service puts chat alongside a Home screen, action cards, custom panels, Projects, persistent memory, and a browser agent called Handoff. The company’s design lead, former Apple industrial designer Abidur Chowdhury, sees those elements as a more visible, actionable way to interact with AI. But the launch shows a product direction—not proof that this interface changes computing or that its agents can reliably save time.
What Hark means by a GUI for AI
Most chatbots center on a text box: you type a request and receive an answer. Hark’s design argument is that future AI should also have an interface people can see and act on, rather than making every interaction a prompt followed by a response.
Abidur Chowdhury, Hark’s head of design and a former Apple industrial designer, described the ambition to Gizmodo as building “a graphical user interface to this future technology—to build the mouse, which is like the interaction method with this future piece of technology.” That is Hark’s product thesis, not an established industry outcome.
Hark Pro still includes conversation. The difference is that the conversation sits alongside other ways to organize work, view information, and delegate actions. Hark announced the service on October 6, 2026; its official pages describe availability on the web, iOS, and Android.

How Hark Pro puts that idea into practice
Home, cards, and panels
Hark’s Home area can present action cards and custom panels that display information from connected services. The company’s examples include surfacing a task to approve, a receipt to submit, a delivery to authorize, a flight check-in, or a payment. Hark also imagines that after someone buys a movie ticket, it could later show parking information and a QR code.
Those examples describe the intended proactive experience; they are not evidence that Hark will consistently anticipate the right task or complete it without oversight. The launch reporting did not independently confirm the broader anticipatory behavior.
Projects and memory
Projects provide a place for longer-running topics, while persistent memory is intended to carry useful context between interactions. Together, they suggest a product meant to retain context and present related work, rather than treating every request as an isolated chat. Hark’s launch materials describe these capabilities, but do not establish how accurately they work across different users or tasks.

Handoff, the browser agent
Handoff is Hark’s name for a cloud computer and browser agent. Hark says it can sign in to websites and take actions, using connections that include services such as Google and Outlook. These are company descriptions, not independent verification of how many sites work, how reliably tasks finish, or whether a given action will be available to every user.
What the launch demo showed—and what it did not
In Gizmodo’s October 6, 2026 report, Chowdhury asked Hark to order a Filet-O-Fish through DoorDash. Handoff operated a cloud computer and browser, and the task took several minutes. The process still required payment verification, leaving Chowdhury to confirm the payment. The reporter questioned whether delegating a straightforward order was worthwhile if doing it manually might be faster.
Chowdhury’s counterargument was that even a slower task may be useful to delegate if it lets someone focus elsewhere. He also suggested that research-heavy tasks—such as finding a dentist who meets several criteria—could be a better fit. Those are arguments about possible value, not results from a controlled speed or reliability test.

The demo establishes that Hark showed a browser-based ordering workflow with a human confirmation step. It does not establish general task-success rates, time saved, or the reliability of proactive suggestions. Gizmodo also said it could not confirm the broader movie-ticket and parking behavior without more use of a connected account.
Plans, platforms, and pricing as of October 7, 2026
Hark Pro is a software service, not the physical product Hark says it plans to release in 2027. The company’s pricing page lists the following plans and says they differ by usage rather than features:

What using an AI agent means for privacy and control
Hark says it does not sell user data or share it with advertisers, and describes sensitive credentials as encrypted in storage. Those are company-stated safeguards, not evidence of an independent security audit.
Hark’s privacy policy, last updated October 1, 2026, also says personal data needed to carry out a user-directed action—such as signing in, booking, placing an order, or sending a message—is shared with the relevant merchant, service, or recipient. The policy describes sharing with service providers and business partners for operations including hosting, processing, research, auditing, compliance, and service delivery. In practical terms, an assistant cannot act through an account without transmitting the information needed for the requested action to the relevant third party.
Hark’s Terms say it identifies itself as an AI when contacting others where legally required or reasonably likely to be read or answered. Users should distinguish that stated policy from any assumption that every interaction will be fully automated or that sensitive actions never require confirmation; the DoorDash demo, for example, stopped for payment verification.
Hark’s hardware is still unspecified
Hark says it plans to release its first physical product in 2027. At launch, the company was not ready to share details, and its official usage page did not identify a form factor. There is no disclosed device category, model, price, or current hardware availability, so the announced plan does not establish whether it will be a phone, wearable, display, or another kind of product.
What to conclude from Hark’s GUI thesis
Hark Pro makes the GUI idea concrete as a software interface that combines chat with surfaces for organizing context and delegating actions. The launch reporting offers one specific browser-agent demonstration, but it also shows a task taking several minutes and requiring payment confirmation. That is enough to understand the product’s direction; it is not enough to judge broader reliability, time savings, or whether proactive assistance will work as imagined.
