Samsung has not announced that Sound Assistant has been absorbed wholesale into One UI. It remains a Good Lock module, although some controls can overlap with built-in One UI features. The clearest reported example is the vertical volume slider: One UI gained a native version, while Sound Assistant continued to offer extra audio controls and customization. [c1] [c2] [c4]
Is Sound Assistant still part of Good Lock?
Yes. Samsung’s Good Lock materials continue to present Sound Assistant as a Good Lock module, not as a system app that has been fully merged into One UI. Samsung’s 2025 Good Lock feature article describes Sound Assistant as a module, and its support page lists its audio features. The support page is for Samsung India, so its listing should not be read as a guarantee that every feature is available in every market. [c1] [c2]
Samsung’s One UI 7 announcement describes the rollout and highlights system features such as Audio Eraser, but does not say that Sound Assistant was incorporated wholesale or provide a feature-by-feature migration list. That announcement does not establish that no individual control has moved; it simply does not document a complete migration. [c3]
Which Sound Assistant features can overlap with One UI?
The vertical volume slider
Android Central reported that the vertical volume slider previously offered through Sound Assistant became a native One UI feature. That is a specific example of overlap, not evidence that the module itself went away. Sound Assistant still offers additional volume-panel choices and audio controls. The report is not an official Samsung migration log, so it should not be treated as a complete history of what moved or when. [c4]

Basic control versus customization
A feature can exist in One UI while Sound Assistant retains more ways to adjust it. For volume controls, the useful distinction is between having a slider at all and being able to customize its layout, colour, placement, or fine-grained steps. Which options appear depends on the Galaxy device and software version; Samsung does not publish a comprehensive model-by-model comparison. [c2] [c4]
What Sound Assistant controls does Samsung list?
Samsung’s Good Lock support page lists these Sound Assistant capabilities. Availability may vary by device and software version. [c2]

Samsung’s 2025 feature article also says Sound Assistant lets users adjust volume in increments from one to 10 for more precise control. That describes the increment adjustment, not a different total volume-level count. Samsung reported more than 21 million cumulative Sound Assistant downloads, with its ranking data current to early March 2025; downloads are not a count of unique users. [c1]
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHow can you tell whether a control is native on your Galaxy?
- Check One UI Settings first. Look for the relevant volume or audio control in your device’s Settings. Menu names and locations can vary by model and software version, and the available sources do not establish one universal path.
- Check Good Lock and Sound Assistant. If Good Lock is available for your device and market, open Sound Assistant and compare the available controls with the built-in option. Look for extra customization, such as panel layout or volume increments.
- Compare the same device and software version. A control found on one Galaxy model or One UI release is not proof it exists on another. Samsung explicitly cautions that Good Lock availability may vary by device and software version. [c2]
Does One UI 7 change Sound Assistant’s status?
Samsung announced on March 18, 2025 that the One UI 7 rollout would start April 7, beginning with the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 before expanding to other Galaxy phones and tablets. Samsung said rollout timing and availability could vary by market. Its announcement does not describe Sound Assistant as discontinued or fully merged. [c3]
