A smart coffee maker may send brew history and machine diagnostics to its manufacturer, while its companion app may also process account, phone, network, or location information. The exact data depends on the brand, model, region, firmware, and setup. Keurig Dr Pepper specifically discloses a camera image of the pod-position area for certain connected home brewers; that should not be assumed of other brands.
What information can a connected coffee maker collect?
Manufacturer privacy notices describe several possible categories. They do not amount to a universal inventory for every smart brewer, and data collected by a companion app should not be confused with data generated by the machine itself.
Brew choices and timing
Keurig Dr Pepper says its internet-connected home brewers collect usage history, including beverage variety, brew size, and strength preference. Nespresso lists types of coffee prepared and the associated date and time among examples of telemetry from Wi-Fi machines. These disclosures indicate that a service may be able to associate brewing activity with a device or account, but they do not establish that every model records every listed detail. Keurig Dr Pepper privacy policy; Nespresso privacy information.
Machine identifiers and diagnostics
Nespresso gives a machine serial number and machine alerts or errors as telemetry examples. De’Longhi’s My Coffee Lounge app notice lists the IP address of a paired coffee machine. Such information can identify a machine or help report its status; the disclosures do not specify a complete field list for every model. Nespresso privacy information; De’Longhi privacy policy.

- SNEAK-A-CUP FEATURE TO PREVENT DRIPS: This feature temporarily stops the flow of coffee so you can pour your first cup before brewing ends without making a mess.
- EASY-VIEW WATER WINDOW: The front-facing window shows you the exact amount of water that will turn into coffee, and the brew basket requires a standard paper coffee filter for proper operation.
- DIGITAL CONTROLS WITH RUBBERIZED FEEL: Large, rubberized buttons give you full control of the coffeemaker, and the easy-read screen displays the clock, brew time, and programming options.
- QUICKTOUCH PROGRAMMING WITH AUTO SHUTOFF: Easily program the 24-hour auto brew feature so you can wake up to a fresh pot of coffee or whenever you desire. 2-Hour Auto Shutoff for added safety and peace of mind with every use.
A camera on certain connected Keurig brewers
Keurig Dr Pepper states that certain connected home brewers include “a camera designed to collect an image of the area where a pod is positioned within the brewer.” Its policy says the image is required for some connected services and may also be used for diagnostics. This is a Keurig disclosure, not evidence that smart coffee makers generally have cameras. Keurig Dr Pepper privacy policy.
What can the companion app or connected service collect?
Some data is associated with the phone, app, account, or network rather than being a record created by the brewer. The distinction matters: pairing a machine can involve data from both the device and the service used to control it.

Phone, app, and network details
Keurig Dr Pepper lists device identifiers, IP address, device and app settings, operating system, software version, wireless or mobile network information, app crashes, and service activity. De’Longhi lists technical information about a user’s device, app session, login and authentication information, plus analytics such as device ID, mobile IP address, pages visited, network connection, load times, and crashes. De’Longhi says analytics are processed after consent. Keurig Dr Pepper privacy policy; De’Longhi privacy policy.
Account and location information
Location disclosures differ by service. Keurig Dr Pepper says location may be collected depending on how its services are used, from sources that can include IP address, GPS, cellular towers, nearby-device sensors, Bluetooth address, and Wi-Fi access points. Nespresso says it may collect precise location from a device or browser with consent to show nearby boutiques or recycling locations, and may also infer location from a ZIP code or IP address. These are different methods and purposes; neither statement means that every brewer continuously tracks its owner. Keurig Dr Pepper privacy policy; Nespresso privacy information.

Does a smart coffee maker send data to the manufacturer?
Some do when connected features are in use, according to manufacturer disclosures. Nespresso says machine data is transferred to and stored on its servers when a machine connects through its app or Wi-Fi. Keurig Dr Pepper describes usage history collected through internet-connected home brewers. These are company statements about their products and services, not independent measurements of network traffic. Nespresso privacy information; Keurig Dr Pepper privacy policy.
JURA describes a different arrangement in its J.O.E. app privacy policy: installation and technical data about the app and automatic coffee machine are stored locally on a phone or tablet, and an account is not required for the app functions covered by that notice. The policy says Wi-Fi name and password are stored encrypted on WiFi Connect. It also says JURA does not provide data to third parties for processing or marketing purposes; that statement is scoped to J.O.E. and the policy, not every JURA product or service. The app may request permissions for network, machine ID, location, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, storage, or sharing, depending on features. JURA J.O.E. privacy policy.

What these disclosures do—and do not—tell you
A privacy policy describes stated practices, but does not prove exactly what a particular machine transmits in every configuration. It is not a packet capture, nor does it necessarily provide a model-by-model list of outbound fields, feature activation conditions, retention periods, or recipients for each data item. Nespresso’s Norway Data Act information says some machines generate machine data and that connecting through the app or Wi-Fi transfers and stores machine data on Nespresso servers; it does not provide additional field-level detail here. Nespresso Norway legal information.
- A category listed in a privacy notice may apply only to specified products, services, features, regions, or uses.
- Machine telemetry, companion-app analytics, and information about an account or phone are distinct categories.
- A policy statement alone cannot establish which fields a specific brewer sends in practice or how long each is retained.

- Identify the exact model and app. Find the model number, the companion app name, and the current privacy notice for your country or region.
- Look for machine-generated data. Check whether the notice names brew history, machine identifiers, alerts, errors, or images, and whether those details are tied to a specific feature.
- Separate app data from brewer data. Look for account details, device identifiers, app activity, network information, and location permissions listed for the phone or service.
- Check what requires a connection. Consult the manual to see which functions need Wi-Fi, an account, or app access, and whether useful brewing functions continue offline.
- Review storage and controls. Look for where information is stored, stated retention and disclosure practices, available privacy settings, and the effect of disabling permissions or connectivity.
These details can vary by model, firmware, app version, and region. If a notice does not answer a specific question—such as a field’s retention period or whether a function works offline—do not assume an answer from another model’s policy.
