Rackspace Technology’s March 2025 partner-program relaunch put joint account ownership and recurring, performance-tiered commissions at the center of its channel strategy. CRN reported that partners who bring an opportunity and close it with Rackspace can share ownership of the resulting account, but Rackspace did not publicly disclose commission rates. Its current partner page lists four participation routes—email reseller, cloud reseller, referral, and private-equity partners—and describes support such as account management, sales and technical help, enablement materials, and lead tracking.
What changed in Rackspace’s partner program?
Rackspace announced the relaunch in March 2025 under the message “Win More. Earn More. Accelerate Your Growth.” CRN characterized it as a renewed channel focus shaped by Rackspace’s hybrid-cloud and AI portfolio and its mid-market and enterprise customers. The central change was a stronger emphasis on partners participating in customer accounts and earning over time, rather than simply passing a lead to Rackspace.
Adrianna Bustamante, Rackspace’s vice president of partnerships and demand generation, told CRN, “Technology is constantly evolving, and our partner program needed to evolve with it.” The relaunch also included marketing campaigns-in-a-box, technical resources, and educational assets. Rackspace described the approach as accessible to smaller partners as well as larger ones; that is a stated program intention, not evidence of a measured outcome.
How does the Account Ownership Program work?
CRN reported that when a partner brings an opportunity and Rackspace wins it jointly, the partner shares ownership of the account with Rackspace. Rackspace senior director of the global partner program Judy Vansell described the arrangement to CRN this way: “If a partner brings us an opportunity, we don’t just support it, we share the account ownership. Once we win it together, it becomes their account, jointly owned with Rackspace. That’s a huge differentiator.”

CRN described commissions as recurring and tied to a performance-tiered structure, with the potential for earnings to grow over time. Bustamante told CRN, “It’s all about a better recurring commission model. Even though we don’t talk specific numbers publicly, partners know what they earn on each opportunity and how that grows over time.” These are reported program mechanics, not a guarantee of a particular contract term or payout. Rackspace’s current partner page says commissions apply to eligible opportunities submitted and approved under lead-registration guidelines, but it does not publish commission rates. Confirm account ownership, eligibility, rates, and payout conditions directly with Rackspace.
What support and incentives does Rackspace currently list?
Rackspace’s current Global Partner Program page lists operational support and enablement for partners, alongside commissions for eligible opportunities. It says qualified opportunities have no minimum or maximum payout terms, but does not state a rate on the page.

The current page is region-localized to the United Arab Emirates; its published details do not establish that every market has identical terms. CRN’s report is the source for the 2025 relaunch’s campaigns-in-a-box and recurring, tiered commission framing. For practical decisions, rely on the terms Rackspace confirms for your region and partner route.
Which partner route fits your business?
Rackspace currently lists four routes. The public page distinguishes them by participation model, but does not provide enough information to compare rates or detailed eligibility rules. These are not necessarily interchangeable: a referral, resale relationship, and private-equity portfolio relationship involve different contributions.

The page also describes partner support across public, private, and hybrid cloud platforms. Rackspace’s stated customer and solution focus includes responsible AI, application modernization, data-center consolidation, hybrid-cloud security, cloud and data strategy, reducing vendor lock-in, and cost optimization, with mid-market and enterprise customers in view.
How can a prospective partner get started?
- Choose the route that matches your role: referral, cloud resale, email resale, or private-equity portfolio support.
- Review Rackspace’s Global Partner Program page and use its contact or portal route to ask about participation in your market.
- Before registering a lead or committing to a resale motion, get the applicable terms in writing. Ask how opportunity approval works, how account ownership is defined, what commissions and performance tiers apply, and what conditions govern payout.
Rackspace names technology relationships including AWS, Microsoft, Google Cloud, VMware, Oracle, SAP, Dell Technologies, and others. Its listed ecosystem spans multiple alliances; the public lists do not mean that every company participates in the same commercial tier or has the same joint-selling terms.

What the relaunch means for channel partners
The clearest change is the emphasis on a continuing commercial relationship around accounts partners help win: CRN reported joint account ownership and recurring, tiered commissions, while Rackspace’s current page describes lead registration, support resources, and four routes into the program. Rackspace has not published a public commission rate in the cited CRN coverage or on the current page, so prospective partners should evaluate the offer using their region-specific agreement rather than assuming a standard payout.
Bill Santos, founder and managing partner of technology advisory firm TenrecX, told CRN that Rackspace’s breadth could help his firm avoid managing multiple vendors for specialized needs. That is Santos’s assessment, not an independent evaluation of the program’s outcomes.
