Broadcom’s VMware partner requirements determine which businesses can sell, host, or deliver services for particular VMware offerings; they do not, by themselves, define a customer’s license rights. If you are buying, renewing, or moving VMware workloads to a cloud service, verify the provider’s exact partner route, your contract and licensee details, and who is responsible for support.
What the partner program controls—and what it does not
“Broadcom partner” is not one universal status. Broadcom’s partner portal describes the Advantage Partner Program as covering routes to market, tier requirements, and partner benefits. It separately identifies the Expert Advantage Partner Program for service and support partners. The route matters: a reseller, a cloud service provider, and an implementation or support firm may have different roles.
Partner qualification is about a business’s participation in those routes. Your own entitlement to use software, renew a subscription, or move a license depends on the applicable customer agreement and product terms. Do not treat a partner’s tier or sales status as a substitute for checking those terms.
Why customers cannot rely on published tier thresholds
Broadcom’s public portal links to detailed Advantage Partner Program information, but the detail page redirects visitors to partner login. The public material reviewed does not establish current revenue, certification, deal-volume, or staffing thresholds. Those requirements may vary by partner route and geography, so a number quoted without current route-specific documentation is not a reliable basis for judging a seller.

#1 Best Overall
Ask the business you are working with to identify its exact Broadcom partner route and confirm its current authorization for the product or hosted service in your territory. If a particular qualification affects your transaction, request the current program documentation from the partner rather than inferring it from a general “partner” label.
What changed for VMware cloud service providers
TechRadar Pro reported that the VCSP Advantage Partner Program ended on January 26, 2026, and that only select partners could join the replacement arrangement. This report concerns the cloud service provider route; it does not establish that every reseller or services partner lost eligibility or changed status.

If you use a hosted VMware service, ask the provider whether it is currently eligible to offer that specific service and whether it can continue your contract. Put renewal and support ownership in writing, including the escalation path if the provider’s partner relationship changes.
When a customer may port a VCF subscription to a cloud service
Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1 FAQ, dated September 3, 2026, says eligible VCF and applicable add-on subscriptions may be ported to a certified cloud service when the subscription was purchased after December 13, 2023, directly from Broadcom or through an authorized reseller or distributor, and the customer is the licensee. It excludes Value-Added OEM licenses and licenses for which the provider, rather than the customer, is the licensee.

The FAQ describes conditions, not blanket portability for every VMware license or cloud destination.
Do not confuse partner NFR licenses with customer licenses
Broadcom’s Not for Resale VMware License Information says partner NFR licenses are for partner testing, demonstrations, training, and development; they are not customer production licenses. Customers cannot request, receive, or view those partner NFR licenses. For a customer proof of concept, Broadcom describes a separate partner-initiated request process.

- Route and authorization: Which partner route applies—resale, cloud service, or expert/services—and is the business authorized for the specific VMware product or service in your geography?
- Renewal and support: Who will issue and process the renewal, provide first-line support, and escalate issues? Record the responsibilities in writing.
- Hosted service eligibility: Can the provider currently offer the particular service and continue your contract? For a portability move, verify the destination against Broadcom’s current certified-services list and check your license conditions.
- License identity and history: Who is named as licensee, how was the subscription purchased, and when? Keep the order and agreement records needed to confirm eligibility.
- Evaluation use: Is the proposed entitlement a partner-only NFR or a customer POC entitlement requested through the proper process?
- Current requirements: If the partner’s tier or qualification matters to your decision, request current documentation for that exact route; public portal pages do not disclose the detailed thresholds.
Where partner services fit
A services partner may be involved in design, implementation, migration, optimization, or support. ChannelPro’s December 2, 2025 overview describes that services emphasis as part of the program context, but it is not a substitute for current Broadcom program terms. Define the deliverables, accountable party, and support boundaries in your statement of work, and independently confirm the provider’s active authorization for the work you are buying.
