Wizards of the Coast announced that a new version, planned to begin in 2027, will contain only rare or mythic rare cards in its nonbasic-card slots. The announced configurations differ for Booster Packs and Collector Boosters, and the packs will be randomly inserted into those products—not sold separately.
What Wizards means by a God Pack
In its October 5, 2026 announcement, Wizards of the Coast defined the planned God Pack as a booster “where every nonbasic card is a rare or mythic rare card.” The feature is scheduled to start with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, which Wizards identifies as the first Magic set of 2027. Wizards expects the feature to reach Universes Beyond sets in 2028. These are announced plans, not contents or odds for booster products currently on sale. Wizards’ booster update and its WPN retailer announcement describe the rollout.
How the announced God Packs differ
Wizards announced a separate configuration and frequency for each product type. The celebration card and, in Collector Boosters, the foil land are listed separately from the rare-or-mythic card count.
| Product | Stated frequency | Announced contents |
|---|---|---|
| Booster Pack | 1 in every 1,000 Booster Packs, according to Wizards’ October 5, 2026 announcement | 1 God Pack celebration card; 10 nonfoil rare and/or mythic rare cards; 2 nonfoil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards; 2 traditional-foil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards. That is 14 rare-or-mythic cards, plus the celebration card. |
| Collector Booster | 1 in every 300 Collector Boosters, according to Wizards’ October 5, 2026 announcement | 1 God Pack celebration card; 1 foil land; 3 foil default-frame rare and/or mythic rare cards; 3 nonfoil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards; 5 foil Booster Fun rare and/or mythic rare cards. That is 11 rare-or-mythic cards, plus the celebration card and foil land. |
Wizards says the five foil Booster Fun slots in a Collector Booster God Pack may include Headliner cards, while describing multiple Headliners in one pack as very improbable. The announced 1-in-1,000 and 1-in-300 figures are frequencies for finding a God Pack in the named product types; they are not odds for drawing a particular rare, mythic, foil, or Headliner.

How to get one
A God Pack is not a separate item to order. Wizards says the packs will be randomly inserted into ordinary Booster Packs and Collector Boosters in the planned rollout. Buying a booster does not guarantee a God Pack; the announced frequency describes random insertion across each product type. Because the feature is planned for 2027, a product available now should not be assumed to contain one.

“God Pack” also has a historical Magic usage. A 2014 Magic Rules Tips account describes a Journey into Nyx booster containing all 15 Gods from the Theros block and says Wizards confirmed that such packs existed. That historical pack had a specific Gods-based composition; the upcoming announced version is defined by rarity across its nonbasic cards. The shared nickname does not mean the contents are the same. Magic Rules Tips’ historical account provides the description.
