An 8 kHz keyboard polling rate means the keyboard can send up to 8,000 reports to the computer per second. That works out to a nominal 0.125 milliseconds between report opportunities—one eighth of the 1 ms interval at 1,000 Hz. It does not mean the key press reaches the screen in 0.125 ms or that the keyboard makes a game eight times faster.
What does keyboard polling rate measure?
Polling rate is how frequently a device communicates reports to a computer. Razer defines it as “the frequency at which data is communicated from your device to your PC” on its HyperPolling technology page. For a keyboard, those reports convey key-state information; the rate describes reporting frequency, not how quickly a physical switch moves or a game renders a response.
How much time is between 1,000 Hz and 8,000 Hz reports?
Hertz means events per second. Taking the reciprocal of the report rate gives the nominal interval between reporting opportunities:

These intervals are arithmetic conversions from the stated rates, not measurements of total keyboard latency. In the narrow sense of report frequency, 8,000 Hz allows up to eight times as many reports per second as 1,000 Hz, and the nominal wait for the next polling opportunity is shorter. This assumes the keyboard is operating at its advertised rate and the changed key state is ready to report.

Does 8 kHz make a keyboard eight times faster?
No—not in the overall sense most players mean by “faster.” Polling rate is one part of the input path. A key press also involves switch actuation, device handling, host processing, the game’s input sampling, and display timing. A shorter report interval alone does not establish a specific reduction in end-to-end key-to-screen delay.
Measurement boundaries matter, too. Razer says latency for the Huntsman V3 Pro 8KHz is measured “from the moment of actuation of the switch to the signal being received at the USB port on the host device.” That ends at the host USB port, not at a visible result on screen. Read any latency figure alongside the maker’s description of what was measured.

Will you notice the difference?
The cited manufacturer explanations and product specifications establish what 8,000 Hz means, but they do not establish that every player will perceive an improvement. Nor do they show that 8 kHz by itself guarantees a competitive advantage. Treat a high polling rate as one specification to weigh, rather than a promise about how a game will feel.

What should you compare besides polling rate?
When choosing a keyboard, compare the complete set of features that affect fit and performance, not just the largest Hz number. Check the maker’s latency measurement method, switch and actuation options, layout, connectivity, price, and other features you will use. The cited pages do not provide an independent comparison of these models or establish that 8 kHz alone warrants paying more.
