No official incident records in the available reporting show Cloudflare, AWS, and Google Cloud going down together in one massive outage. They document separate incidents on different dates. A Google Cloud disruption and a related Cloudflare service disruption occurred on June 12, 2025, but AWS’s documented US-EAST-1 outage happened later, on October 19–20, 2025. Subsequent Cloudflare and Google Cloud incidents in 2026 were separate events.

What happened, and when?

The incidents below affected different systems and had different causes. The June 2025 events show how an outage at one cloud provider can disrupt services that depend on it; they do not establish that all three providers failed simultaneously.

Date and provider What was affected Cause reported by the provider Duration and scope
June 12, 2025 — Google Cloud Multiple Google Cloud, Google Workspace, and Google Security Operations products saw increased 503 errors in external API requests. Google Cloud said a policy change was inserted into regional Spanner tables used by Service Control. Google reported a three-hour incident, from 10:49 a.m. to 1:49 p.m. Pacific.
June 12, 2025 — Cloudflare Workers KV and dependent services, including WARP, Access, Gateway, Images, Stream, Workers AI, Turnstile and Challenges, AutoRAG, Zaraz, and parts of the dashboard. Cloudflare said a third-party cloud provider outage affected infrastructure partly used to store Workers KV data. The postmortem does not state a total incident duration in the information reported here.
October 19–20, 2025 — AWS US-EAST-1 AWS services, Amazon properties and subsidiaries, and AWS Support operations were affected. AWS identified DNS resolution problems for regional DynamoDB service endpoints. AWS said errors began at 11:49 p.m. PDT on October 19 and were mitigated by 2:24 a.m. PDT on October 20. Those are the provider’s local PDT times.
February 20, 2026 — Cloudflare Some customer services became unreachable after customer IP prefixes were withdrawn through BGP. Cloudflare attributed the withdrawal to a network change in its Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP) pipeline. It said the incident was not caused directly or indirectly by a cyberattack or malicious activity. Cloudflare reported a total incident duration of 6 hours and 7 minutes; about 1,100 prefixes were withdrawn before remediation.
August 20, 2026 — Google Cloud us-west1 Workloads dependent on the affected region experienced congestion, packet loss, throttling, and latency. Google said workloads in regions outside us-west1 remained operational and unaffected. Google Cloud said scheduled fiber-optic maintenance unexpectedly reduced capacity between data centers in us-west1, and automated rerouting did not shift traffic effectively to alternate capacity. Google reported an incident duration of 2 hours and 22 minutes.

Why did Cloudflare and Google Cloud both have trouble on June 12?

The two providers reported incidents on the same date, and Cloudflare identified an upstream cloud-provider outage affecting storage infrastructure used by Workers KV. That is evidence of a dependency path: a provider can rely on another provider for part of its infrastructure, so a problem upstream can affect downstream services.

It does not mean that every Cloudflare product or all of Google Cloud failed, nor does it show that AWS was part of that event. The Associated Press reported that services including Spotify and Discord were disrupted during the Google Cloud incident. Those reports describe effects observed at the time; they are not a count of everyone affected or proof that the entire internet went offline.

Was AWS down too?

AWS had a documented outage, but its headline-grabbing US-EAST-1 incident was on October 19–20, 2025—not June 12, 2025. AWS attributed that incident to DNS resolution problems for regional DynamoDB endpoints. The separate AWS event therefore cannot be used as evidence of one simultaneous Cloudflare–AWS–Google Cloud failure.

Does a cloud outage mean the whole internet is down?

Usually, an outage report identifies a specific provider, product, network path, or region—not a shutdown of the entire internet. A service may become unavailable because it depends on an affected cloud product, even while the service’s own systems and other providers remain operational. The impact depends on the failing component and the services that rely on it.

For example, Google Cloud’s August 2026 report limited its described impact to workloads affected by capacity problems in us-west1 and said workloads in other regions were unaffected. That distinction matters: a regional incident can be serious for affected users without being a global failure of the provider.

How to check whether an outage is affecting you now

  1. Check the provider’s official status page. Look for the specific product or region named in the report, along with the incident’s start time, current status, and any recovery update. Status listings change as providers investigate and mitigate incidents.
  2. Check the service you are trying to use. A downstream app can have its own incident, or it may be reporting the effects of an upstream provider problem. Compare its update with the cloud provider’s notice rather than assuming the two are the same outage.
  3. Use outage data to narrow the scope. Cloudflare Radar’s outage annotations include location, ASN, type, scope, likely cause, and start and end times. Treat a listed likely cause as provisional unless the provider has confirmed it in a postmortem.
  4. Separate a local connection problem from a provider incident. If several unrelated services fail only on one device or network, first test another device or connection. If the same service fails across networks and the provider reports an incident, the evidence points more strongly to an upstream or service-side problem.

What the incident records do—and do not—establish

The records establish several distinct disruptions with different causes: a Google Cloud Service Control policy change, a third-party storage dependency affecting Cloudflare Workers KV, AWS DynamoDB endpoint DNS resolution problems, a Cloudflare BYOIP change that withdrew prefixes, and reduced network capacity in Google Cloud us-west1 after fiber maintenance.

They do not establish one shared outage involving all three named providers, or a reliable combined total of unique people affected across the separate incidents. The providers describe different products, regions, and incident scopes, so adding their reports would not produce a meaningful user count.
