Weglot 2.0 is a new product generation for Weglot’s WordPress translation offering—not a WordPress plugin release numbered 2.0. Weglot says it has rebuilt its translation model around brand information and redesigned the workflow for reviewing and publishing translations. The listed features include an AI Translation Model, an in-context Visual Editor, a Translation List, and multilingual SEO tools. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independent evidence of translation quality or improved search rankings.
What “Weglot 2.0” means
Weglot’s WordPress.org FAQ distinguishes the product-generation name from the plugin’s own release number, which appears in the WordPress dashboard. In other words, “2.0” describes Weglot’s product direction; it is not a claim that the installed WordPress plugin is version 2.0. The current listing is titled Translate WordPress with Weglot 2.0 – Multilingual AI Translation.
What Weglot says it rebuilt
Weglot’s June 15, 2026 announcement describes a move away from relying on a shared base of translation engines such as DeepL, Microsoft, or Google toward a generative AI model enriched with brand data. The company says its model can use a Brand Profile, Translation Guidelines, and page context to shape translations. The WordPress listing also says users retain the ability to review and edit translations.
Justine, identified in the announcement as Weglot’s VP of Product, said: “We tested a generative AI MVP and immediately saw stronger results: it lets our users shape how their translations sound and behave.” That is the company’s account of its development experience, not an independent evaluation of generated text. The listed AI workflow centers on a Brand Profile and Translation Guidelines, alongside the context of the page being translated. These controls are intended to help align translated content with a site’s chosen voice and terminology. Weglot’s listing does not establish how consistently the model follows those inputs across different sites or content types.
Review translations in context or in a list
The Visual Editor is described as letting users work with translations in the context of the site, while the Translation List provides a place to manage translation entries. Together, they suggest a workflow in which automatic translation is a starting point that can be checked and edited, rather than a requirement to publish every generated result untouched.

Publish language versions
Weglot lists per-language publishing controls, allowing language versions to be managed separately. It also lists translation of text embedded in images and access to Weglot MCP through an AI assistant. The listing does not detail the conditions or limits for every feature, so confirm their availability for the particular site and workflow before relying on them.
What the listing says about multilingual SEO
Weglot’s WordPress listing names language-specific URLs, hreflang tags, translated metadata, and controls to publish each language. These are relevant components of a multilingual site setup, but their presence in a feature list does not prove that a site will rank higher or that search engines will index every translated page as intended. Search performance also depends on the content, site configuration, and search engine handling.

Language and website figures are vendor claims
The current WordPress.org listing claims support for more than 110 languages and says Weglot is used on more than 110,000 websites. Those figures are claims from Weglot’s listing as accessed in 2026; the listing content surfaced here does not display a publication year for them. They should not be read as independently verified counts or as a guarantee that every language variant or site setup is supported in the same way.

The feature descriptions do not establish that generated translations are accurate enough for a particular legal, regulated, or otherwise high-stakes use. Have a fluent reviewer check translated content where an error could mislead users or create material risk. If assessing the workflow for a site, review sample pages for meaning and brand consistency, confirm how edits and publication are managed, and verify that required languages, image text, URLs, metadata, and hreflang behavior fit the site’s needs.
