The web design conversation in 2025 brings together AI-assisted workflows, expressive typography and imagery, and more motion-rich experiences. But these are directions to consider—not proof that one look has taken over the web. The durable test is whether a design helps its audience, remains accessible, performs well, and can be maintained.

What are the web design trends for 2025?

Reports published for 2025 point to several themes: designers are considering how people interact with increasingly capable technology, including generative AI; visual identity is leaning into expressive type and distinctive imagery; and motion is being used as a design material. Alongside those forecasts, accessibility and performance remain practical requirements, not optional aesthetic trends.

The evidence behind these themes differs. Vendor-curated trend lists describe ideas and examples, surveys report what particular groups say they do or plan to do, and automated scans measure detectable issues on sampled pages. None establishes that a specific visual style is now universal or objectively best for every website.

AI-assisted design and human-technology interaction

AI is a significant topic in 2025 design reporting, but it is more useful to treat it as a changing workflow and interface challenge than as a visual style. iF Design’s 2025 report places “Human Digitality” among six societal transformations and considers how complex technologies, including generative AI and robotics, affect people and interfaces. Figma describes its 2025 AI report as a survey of 2,500 product builders across seven countries about how designers and developers perceive, build, and use AI; the available summary does not establish a specific adoption rate or design outcome.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

One bounded business indicator comes from Webflow’s 2025 State of the Website survey: 69% of 500 marketing leaders at large enterprises across North America said they planned to increase or maintain investment in AI tools for web initiatives. That is a stated investment plan among those respondents, not realized spending or a measure of AI use among all designers. The same survey reports that 90% said their tech stack had grown in the previous 12 months, a reminder that adding tools can also add integration and maintenance work.

For a site team, the useful question is not whether to add AI for its own sake. Decide whether a particular AI-enabled interaction or production step improves a real task, and make its behavior understandable to users. Human review, clear controls, and an accessible fallback matter when generated content or automated decisions affect what a visitor sees.

Expressive typography, identity, and imagery

Typography and image treatment can make a site feel more distinctive without changing its basic structure. Monotype’s Re:Vision frames typography as part of visual culture responding to social and technological change, with themes including conflict and peace, freedom and order, and climate-related communication. Canva’s vendor-curated 2025 trend list offers examples such as analog-and-AI combinations, bold modular shapes, playful professional design, rough textures, motion, and nature-inspired imagery. These are creative prompts, not independently measured shares of websites using each style.

When exploring a bold visual direction, check the content at its actual reading size and across the devices your audience uses. Unusual typefaces, dense textures, and image-heavy layouts can weaken legibility or increase asset weight if they are applied without restraint. A visual system should also remain coherent when new pages and content are added.

Motion and immersive treatments need a user-controlled path

Canva’s “Future in Motion” identifies motion as a 2025 design theme, but the forecast does not show that motion broadly improves engagement or conversion. Use animation when it explains a transition, provides feedback, or supports a story—not merely to make a page appear current.

  • Respect operating-system reduced-motion preferences and provide a reduced-motion experience for nonessential animation.
  • Keep essential information and controls available without animation, and avoid motion that blocks reading or interaction.
  • Consider a static or user-controlled alternative for immersive effects, especially when movement continues or repeats.
  • Check the cost of video, large images, and animation on slower connections and lower-powered devices.

W3C’s Web Sustainability Guidelines discuss reduced motion and other design and implementation considerations. The cited 2025 and 2026 documents are draft notes, so treat them as guidance rather than final normative standards.

Accessibility is a measurable design priority

WebAIM’s 2025 scan of the top one million home pages found low-contrast text on 79.1% of pages, the most commonly detected issue. It also found that 18.5% of images lacked alternative text and 34.2% of form inputs were improperly labeled. The image figure excludes images explicitly marked with empty alt text. These are automated observations on sampled home pages—not a complete accessibility audit, a user test, or an explanation of why the issues occurred.

Those findings make a useful counterweight to visual trend chasing. A polished interface can still exclude visitors if text is hard to read, images convey information without alternatives, or forms lack usable labels. Include accessibility checks as part of design and implementation rather than waiting until after visual decisions are locked.

Performance and sustainability belong in visual decisions

Design choices affect what a page downloads and how quickly it becomes usable. Large image and video assets, custom fonts, and elaborate effects may have a performance cost; the right trade-off depends on the content and audience, not on a trend label. W3C’s Web Sustainability Guidelines connect broader web impact with optimization, appropriate typography, accessibility, and reduced motion. The October 2025 and May 2026 documents are draft notes, not final standards.

Evaluate assets and effects in context: use only the resolution and formats the experience needs, avoid loading decorative media that serves no purpose, and check how the page behaves on constrained devices and networks. Performance and accessibility checks can reveal whether an expressive treatment is working in practice rather than only in a design mockup.

Which web design trends are worth using in 2025?

Use a trend when it fits the people, content, and job of the site. A useful decision review asks:

  • Audience and purpose: Does the design help visitors understand, decide, or complete something?
  • Accessibility and control: Can people read, navigate, and operate it with different needs and preferences?
  • Performance: Do the visual assets and effects justify their download and rendering cost?
  • Maintainability: Can the team apply the system consistently as the site grows?
  • Evidence: Is this a forecast or creative example, a survey result for a defined group, or a measured finding—and is it being interpreted accordingly?

Webflow’s 2025 survey also reports that 91% of its surveyed North American enterprise marketing leaders said their website drove more revenue than any other marketing channel. That is respondents’ assessment, not an audited population-wide comparison, but it underscores why design decisions should serve the website’s actual role rather than novelty alone.

Capture designs for review with ScreenshotNeo

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. For teams comparing pages or reviewing design changes, it can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF captures through one GET request. It accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Or skip the browser setup:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month—no card required.
