If you would rather collect editable article text or organize references in a notes workspace, OneNote, Evernote, and Notion offer different kinds of clipping—but their outputs are not all PDFs. Here’s how to choose, including how to save a web page as a PDF.
Save a web page as a PDF in Chrome
Chrome’s print preview is the most direct option when your goal is a PDF file rather than a saved note. Google documents this workflow for desktop Chrome and Android. Menu labels and available destinations may vary by device settings and browser version; see Google’s Print from Chrome instructions.
On a computer
- Open the web page in Chrome.
- Open Print with File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or ⌘+P on Mac.
- In the print settings, choose the PDF destination—often labeled Save as PDF.
- Choose the settings and pages you need, select Save, and pick a location for the file.
On Android
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- In the print preview, select Save as PDF.
- Choose a location and save the file.
A print-generated PDF is a rendering of the page for printing, not a guaranteed exact copy of everything displayed on the live site. The cited documentation does not establish how faithfully print output handles every site, interactive element, or complex layout.
Choose an alternative by the result you need
“Clip a page” can mean saving a standalone document, extracting readable article content into notes, or keeping a page in a searchable workspace. Choose based on the output and where you want the material to live—not just the word “clipper.”

| Option | Documented output | Best fit | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chrome print-to-PDF | PDF file from print preview on desktop and Android | Keeping or sharing a standalone document | Print output can differ from the live page; cross-site fidelity is not established. |
| OneNote Web Clipper | Article capture as editable text and images; selected pages from an existing PDF can also be clipped into OneNote | Editable research notes organized in a notebook | The documented article capture is a OneNote note, not proof of an equivalent standalone web-page PDF export. |
| Evernote Web Clipper | Article, simplified article, screenshot, or selected content; Evernote also documents saving a web page as PDF or note format | Choosing among multiple capture styles and filing content in Evernote | Feature documentation does not provide a neutral comparison of capture fidelity across sites. |
| Notion Web Clipper | A web page saved to a chosen Notion page or database; a database clip records the original URL | Keeping references in a Notion workspace | The cited clipper guide describes workspace capture, not PDF output. |
When to use OneNote, Evernote, or Notion
OneNote: editable article captures and notebook research
Microsoft’s OneNote Web Clipper guide describes an Article option that saves a page to a notebook as editable text and images. It also documents clipping selected pages from an existing PDF into OneNote. Use it when the useful result is material you can work with in a notebook; do not assume that clipping an article creates a matching PDF file.
Evernote: several clipping styles, plus documented PDF saving
Evernote’s Web Clipper Quick Start Guide lists full-page articles, images, selected text, emails, and web pages as clip types. Evernote separately describes saving a web page as a PDF or in note format on its Save Web Page to Evernote page. If a PDF is already open in a browser, its clip-formats help page says it can be attached to a new note.

Notion: workspace pages and database references
Notion’s Web Clipper guide describes saving a page to a chosen workspace page or database for later reading or editing. A database clip records the original URL. The guide documents Chrome and Safari desktop extensions and mobile sharing; it describes workspace capture rather than a clipper mode that outputs a PDF.
Practical limits to consider
- Decide what must be preserved. A PDF file, editable article text, a screenshot, and a workspace entry are different outcomes.
- Choose the destination before clipping. Use a browser-generated PDF for a file to archive or share; use a notes app or workspace when you want the content organized alongside research.
- Do not assume identical appearance. The official feature guides explain supported workflows, but they do not establish comparative fidelity across arbitrary websites. No cross-site rendering comparison is available here.
- Check your browser and device. Notion’s cited guide documents Chrome and Safari desktop extensions and mobile sharing. Google’s cited Chrome help covers desktop and Android print flows.
- Consider difficult pages separately. The documented features do not establish how these tools handle paywalls, scripts, interactive content, or complex layouts in every case.
