That is an editorial ranking, not an official Ankama balance list or a guarantee that those characters will be best for every mode, build, or player. Here are the complete placements and what to consider before choosing a character.
Pocket Gamer’s Waven tier list for version 0.23.7
The placements below reproduce Pocket Gamer’s list, updated October 5, 2026. The publisher says its SS picks perform strongly across nearly every mode, but the list does not describe controlled testing, builds, player levels, or how it weighs different modes. Treat each tier as that guide’s assessment of currently available characters, not as a measured win-rate ranking. Pocket Gamer also notes that many characters remain viable and that slower clears can be one difference between tiers. Pocket Gamer’s Waven tier list
| Tier | Characters |
|---|---|

| B | Spectral Armabladegeddon (Iop); Koroko Brush (Eniripsa); Okus Piktus Paladir (Eniripsa); Pikuxala Hand (Xelor); Tako Synchronizater (Xelor); Premium Catalyst (Xelor); Gurpapa Regulator (Xelor) |

| D | Amurai Blade (Sram); Zandiezer Zo (Cra) |
What the top tier means
Pocket Gamer describes Flamboyant Kasai as a damage-focused hero whose class passive adds one Sword Aura of the same element when he applies an elemental state to opponents. That explanation offers a useful example of why a character’s mechanics matter, but it does not establish that Kasai is the best choice for every encounter or build.
Why other Waven tier lists disagree
Tier letters are not a shared measurement scale. Mobi.gg’s list, updated July 28, 2026, places Brutal Fairblade in S rather than Pocket Gamer’s SS, Buneblade in S rather than C, and Arcarius Paladir in A rather than SS. Its list also puts Pikuxala, Buneblade, Brutal Fairblade, and Catalyser Pramium in S. The dates differ, and guides may assess different character variants or use different criteria, so their tiers should not be combined as though they were comparable test results. Guidactik describes a different approach: it considers versatility across varied fights and enjoyment, and says that characters are not ordered within tiers because performance can shift with Waven’s fights and mechanics. It reports testing all classes mostly at level 50, at a minimum of level 30, with at least three builds. That is Guidactik’s stated method, not Pocket Gamer’s. Its example of Xelor Pikuxala highlights teleportation and placement mechanics as strengths. Guidactik’s Waven tier list
How to choose a character for your playstyle
A tier list answers a narrow question: which characters does a particular guide rate highly under its assumptions? Your performance also depends on what you are playing, how you build the character, and whether you enjoy its mechanics. Waven’s official factsheet describes PvE and PvP modes, along with deck-building and combinations involving character archetypes, spells, equipment, and companions. Ankama’s own concise advice is: “Prepare your deck before each battle and use every ruse available to you to take home the victory!” Waven official factsheet

- Match the mode and objective. Decide whether you care most about PvE, PvP, or another activity; a list that does not state its mode weighting may not answer your specific question.
- Evaluate the build, not just the name. Spells, equipment, companions, and deck choices affect how an archetype plays, so a character’s tier alone cannot specify the performance of a particular setup.
- Prioritize mechanics you can use well. Teleportation and placement, elemental effects, or other class mechanics may suit one player or fight better than a nominally higher placement.
- Check freshness before investing time in a build. Use the version and update date attached to a list, then compare them with Ankama’s latest notes. Pocket Gamer cautions that buffs and nerfs can change placements.
What Ankama’s announced changes mean for this list
Ankama has discussed plans to simplify classes and spells, noting that each class’s large spell selection makes balancing complex. The update describes a planned common spell base and changes to competitive modes and decks. It establishes development direction, not that these changes had shipped by October 7, 2026; confirm the live game version and current developer notes before treating this snapshot as current. The listed tiers are editorial judgments, not official Ankama rankings or published player statistics. The available official material does not establish a current character win rate, pick rate, or player-count figure, so none should be inferred from a tier placement. A lower-ranked character may still be a good fit for a particular mode, build, fight, or player preference.
