ASOS confirmed unauthorised activity involving third-party platforms used to send customer communications, and said an unauthorised notification was sent on 6 October 2026. The company said basic personal information such as names and contact details may have been accessed. It had not confirmed the notification’s claim that a Snowflake instance was compromised.
What happened at ASOS?
At around 10am on 6 October 2026, customers received an unauthorised notification titled “Asos hacked.” Reports said it directed recipients to Telegram and included a threat to leak data, claiming the attackers had compromised a Snowflake instance. That Snowflake claim came from the notification; ASOS has not confirmed it. The Guardian’s report described the message, while ASOS’s regulatory announcement confirmed unauthorised activity involving third-party customer-communications platforms.
ASOS said it had restricted access to the notification platforms and was investigating with internal and external specialist advisers and relevant authorities. The company said its website and app remained available and customers could continue shopping normally. ASOS’s customer notice contains its current guidance.
What information may have been accessed?
ASOS’s preliminary assessment was that basic personal information, including names and contact details, may have been accessed. At the time of its notice, the company did not believe payment-card information or account passwords were affected. This is an initial assessment, not a final forensic conclusion.

The official ASOS and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) notices cited here did not establish an affected-customer total or a confirmed number of leaked records. They also did not establish whether data was ultimately published, the precise technical route used, or whether attackers accessed a Snowflake environment. ASOS said its investigation was ongoing.
What should ASOS customers do?
- Ignore the unauthorised notification. Do not click, follow, or engage with its external link. ASOS specifically told customers to disregard the notification and avoid its link.
- Check official updates directly. Visit ASOS Customer Care’s incident notice by typing the address or navigating from ASOS’s official site; do not use a link in the suspicious notification.
- Watch for follow-up scams. Be cautious of unexpected emails, texts, calls, or notifications claiming to be from ASOS or referring to the incident. Avoid links and requests for passwords, payment details, or verification codes unless you have independently confirmed the request through an official channel.
- Review account activity and use good account security. The NCSC recommends monitoring accounts, using strong unique passwords or passkeys, and enabling two-step verification where available. Its incident alert for ASOS customers includes further guidance.
ASOS said it was not then asking customers to change their ASOS password or take another action. It said it would contact affected customers directly if that changed. Follow the company’s official notice for any later instructions.

What the NCSC advises
The UK National Cyber Security Centre said ASOS customers should assume they may be affected even if they did not receive the unauthorised notification.
