Warhammer Survivors is a standalone game, not downloadable content or a simple reskin of Vampire Survivors. Auroch Digital is making it in partnership with Warhammer and poncle, the developer of Vampire Survivors. It builds on the broad survivors-style formula, but its Warhammer characters, settings, enemies, weapons and secrets are being created from scratch.
How are Warhammer Survivors and Vampire Survivors related?
Auroch Digital describes Warhammer Survivors as a different, standalone game. It is built on the foundation of Vampire Survivors, but is not an expansion that requires the original game. The partnership with poncle connects the projects; it does not make Warhammer Survivors a Vampire Survivors DLC.
The distinction matters: the games share a broad genre framework, while Warhammer Survivors brings its own licensed worlds and content. The available announcements do not establish a complete feature-by-feature comparison with the current version of Vampire Survivors.
What changes most: setting, characters and weapons
Warhammer Survivors draws from two Warhammer settings: Warhammer 40,000’s 41st Millennium and Warhammer Age of Sigmar’s Mortal Realms. Warhammer Community has announced over 40 playable characters and more than 70 weapons. These are publisher-announced scale figures, not independently verified final counts.

That gives the game a different identity from Vampire Survivors: its characters and equipment come from Warhammer’s worlds rather than the original game’s setting and roster. The available sources do not support a current, exhaustive comparison of the two games’ character or weapon totals.
Character-specific weapon evolutions
Official examples suggest that equipment can reflect the character using it. In a PlayStation Blog post, Auroch designer Ellie Harrodine describes Morvenn Vahl’s Heavy Bolter Fidelis evolving into Purgator Mirabilis with the Paragon Missile Launcher. Lyssa Revenya’s Rope and Grapnel, meanwhile, evolves into a ghostly attack. These are advertised examples of character-specific variation, not evidence of a complete list of evolutions.

What gameplay do the games have in common?
Both fit the broad survivors-style pattern of arena combat against escalating hordes. Warhammer Survivors’ official descriptions say players defeat enemies to level up, evolve weapons and face increasingly large groups. Its announcement also describes persistent increases in power after a run ends.
That establishes a shared high-level loop, not identical systems. The available information does not provide a controlled comparison of run length, balance, co-op, or the full progression systems in both games, so it cannot show which has deeper builds or a stronger progression curve.

When and where can you play Warhammer Survivors?
As of October 7, 2026, Warhammer Survivors is announced for release on November 10, 2026. Warhammer Community says a demo is available on Steam and Xbox PC. The announced release platforms are Steam, GOG, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, iOS, and Android.
Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing specifies a digital edition and the same November 10, 2026 release date. Switch 2 is one announced option, not a requirement to play: the game is also announced for several other platforms.

Auroch Digital’s FAQ says the price has not been announced. Check the relevant storefront for current availability and pricing before deciding what to buy. The available sources do not establish Vampire Survivors’ current price or a reliable basis for comparing value.
