To last longer in Warhammer Survivors, use the calmer opening of a run to learn your character’s weapon and build toward new weapons and power-ups; then adapt as the horde grows. Characters start with different weapons and stats, and some weapons aim automatically while others do not, so there is no confirmed one-size-fits-all build. The game is scheduled to launch on 10 November 2026, so these are pre-release fundamentals—not tested launch-version recommendations.
How a run works
Warhammer Survivors is a survivors-style roguelite in which you defeat enemies, gain levels, add weapons and power-ups, and try to withstand increasingly dangerous hordes. The publisher describes a shift from careful early play to frantic late-game action. Use the opening to develop your build before the screen becomes crowded; the available official material does not establish exact timings or a guaranteed survival strategy.
The game spans Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar settings. Stages have distinct enemy factions and secrets, so advice that works for one character or stage may not translate directly to another.
Beginner tips for surviving longer
Learn your starting weapon before adding to the build
Characters have unique starting weapons and stats. Watch what your weapon actually hits and how it behaves while moving through enemies. Auroch Digital has said that some weapons aim automatically and others do not, so do not assume every weapon targets threats in the same way.

Use early level-ups to develop a coherent set of options
Defeating enemies lets you level up and acquire weapons or power-ups. The official descriptions support treating the early phase as a chance to develop your build, but do not specify an optimal upgrade order. Pay attention to the choices offered and how they complement—or fail to complement—your character’s starting kit.
Experiment with combinations and evolution
The Steam description says weapons can be mixed with power-ups and evolved into new forms. That makes experimentation central to learning how a build develops. One official example is Lyssa Revenya’s Rope and Grapnel: it fires hooks from random screen edges and evolves into the Ghost of Rhea. This example does not establish a complete recipe list; specific evolution requirements should be checked against the version you are playing.

Adapt to the character, stage, and enemies
Stages feature different enemy factions, and character starting conditions vary. When trying a new combination, note which character and stage you used and how the weapons behaved against that stage’s enemies. That gives you more useful information than treating a single run as a universal build guide.
Think of unlocks as progress, not just the run result
The game advertises unlockable characters, weapons, abilities, and rare relics. Runs also give players opportunities to experiment while working toward additional options. A run ending in defeat is not necessarily wasted: unlock-based progression can broaden what you can try next, though the exact unlock conditions are not established in the official material cited here.

Which character or weapon is best for a beginner?
No official source currently establishes a best beginner character, weapon, or build, and there are no published controlled comparisons of survival times. The announced roster includes more than 40 playable characters and more than 70 weapons, according to Warhammer Community’s 6 October 2026 report; those are publisher-announced totals, not a guarantee that every option is available in the demo.
For a first run, choose an available character, learn its starting weapon and stats, and judge new options by how they work for you in that run. The current demo announcement names the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya as demo heroes. They are options to explore, not officially ranked recommendations.

How weapon evolution works—and what is not confirmed
Weapon evolution is a named feature, but the official pages cited here do not provide a complete, verified list of required weapons and power-ups. The Rope and Grapnel example shows that at least one weapon evolves into a named new form; it does not prove that every weapon follows the same recipe or targeting rules. Avoid relying on an unverified recipe or build as if it applies across characters, stages, or versions.

Auroch Digital’s FAQ, published 21 May 2026, says progress from the curated demo it covered does not carry into the full game and notes that the demo may differ from launch. Warhammer Community announced a new Steam and Xbox (PC) demo on 6 October 2026, so the FAQ’s policy should not automatically be assumed to describe that newer build. Check the current demo’s own information for its save-transfer policy.

The developer has also described balance work involving characters, weapons, enemies, and enemy waves. Those statements are not a definitive launch patch list: details may change before release. When following advice, check which build, character, stage, and enemy faction it concerns.
