VsTerm is a cross-platform desktop SSH client that brings terminal sessions, SFTP file work, transfer tools, and operations panels into one app. Its vendor describes the workflow as “Terminal, files, and operations, in the same session.” The documented feature set may suit developers and administrators who want those tasks together; it is not an independently tested endorsement of the product’s security, speed, or accuracy.
The official site lists Windows, macOS, and Linux downloads, but says its packages are not Microsoft- or Apple-notarized. You may see an operating-system security warning. Follow the current official download and installation guidance for your platform rather than treating a generic bypass as safe.
What VsTerm combines
VsTerm is a native Rust desktop application. Its repository describes a GUI built with egui/eframe and wgpu, a terminal based on alacritty_terminal, and SSH using russh. The project says the terminal PTY, remote commands, and SFTP share one authenticated session. These are vendor-documented implementation and feature claims, not results from independent testing. See the public repository.
- Shell sessions: terminal tabs for working across SSH hosts.
- Remote files: an integrated SFTP pane, including elevated SFTP for privilege-aware file work.
- Transfers: ZMODEM support using
rzandsz, with transfer queues and progress shown in the app. - Operations views: panels for routes, network connections, path tracing with geo/ASN information, IP quality checks, system information, and live host metrics.
- Workflow aids: terminal-to-file path synchronization and configurable YAML settings are described in the repository.
The practical distinction is consolidation: these functions are presented as parts of a connected SSH workflow rather than separate tools. The feature list does not establish that VsTerm is more secure, faster, or more accurate than another client.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Imports and moving an existing setup
The repository documents import support for WindTerm, Xshell, FinalShell, MobaXterm, Tabby, OpenSSH config, and SecureCRT. It says host and group information can be imported, but encrypted passwords are not copied. Private-key paths may be retained; named keys stored inside some source applications are not resolved by the importer. Check the resulting hosts and credentials before relying on an imported configuration.
Platforms, offline use, and sync
The vendor lists Windows, macOS, and Linux as supported platforms. It describes local SSH work as usable offline; Personal Cloud is optional rather than a prerequisite for connecting to hosts locally. Installation packages are distributed through GitHub Releases, and the site warns that they are not notarized by Microsoft or Apple. Download only from the official product materials and consult their current platform-specific instructions if the operating system blocks or warns about the app.

For cloud sync, the vendor says synced data is encrypted client-side, including AES-256-GCM objects with a key derived from the master password, and that its servers store ciphertext. The repository also describes Ed25519 device identity, with the private key kept in the operating-system keyring, and Argon2id key derivation. These are vendor security claims. No independent security audit, code review, threat model, or jurisdictional analysis is established here. The vendor says its operator and servers are in the United States.

The scrollback figures come from repository plan descriptions and should not be read as a complete description of current behavior. The changelog says v1.3.3 added a configurable per-terminal memory budget of 32, 64, 128, 256, or 512 MiB, defaulting to 64 MiB, with unlimited as the prior behavior. Confirm the current interaction between plan limits and memory settings in the version you install. The official changelog documents the version change.
Which version is current?
The public materials show inconsistent version labels. The latest dated changelog entry in the reviewed official materials is v1.3.4, dated September 22, 2026; the README feature heading says v1.1.13, while the product site displays v1.2.2. The changelog is the clearest dated evidence, but this does not independently confirm the live release metadata. Check the release listing before downloading.

VsTerm is worth evaluating if your day-to-day SSH work involves moving repeatedly between shell sessions, remote files, transfers, and host or network views. Its documented breadth is not proof that every panel fits every environment, and the available materials do not establish an independent security assessment. If you need only a terminal, its bundled operations workflow may be more than you need; if you currently split these SSH tasks across tools, the integrated approach is the relevant reason to try it.
