What Samsung Multi Control does
Multi Control shares a Galaxy Book’s keyboard and trackpad with a compatible Galaxy phone or tablet. Samsung also describes using it to move files, photos, and other content between the connected devices. It is intended for interacting across devices, rather than simply viewing phone notifications on a computer.
For the feature to work, the computer needs to meet Samsung’s Galaxy Book requirements. A Windows laptop or desktop does not become compatible just because it runs Windows or has Phone Link installed.
Check whether your Galaxy Book and phone are supported
Galaxy Book requirements
Samsung’s published requirements identify Galaxy Book series devices released in 2021 or later, with Samsung Settings v1.5 for Intel models or v3.3 for ARM models. Samsung warns that some models may have limited feature support, so the release year alone does not guarantee Multi Control will work on a particular laptop. Check the exact model against Samsung’s current Multi Control compatibility information before relying on it.

Phone and tablet software
Published software thresholds differ between Samsung’s materials. Microsoft’s February 1, 2023 description lists updated phones with One UI 5.1 and tablets with One UI 4.1 or later. A later Samsung overview lists phones and tablets on One UI 5.1.1 or above. These are dated published requirements, not a single dependable minimum for every current device. Check the current support information for your phone or tablet and its software version.
Set up Multi Control
Start by confirming your exact Galaxy Book model and software version, then update both devices and follow Samsung’s current setup instructions. Samsung’s Galaxy Store description specifies Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled on both devices and the same Samsung account signed in on each.

- Check the PC: Confirm that the computer is a Galaxy Book series model released in 2021 or later and that its Samsung Settings version matches the applicable Intel or ARM requirement.
- Check the phone or tablet: Update its software and verify its eligibility for Multi Control using Samsung’s current guidance for that exact device.
- Prepare both devices: Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the Galaxy Book and mobile device, and sign in to the same Samsung account, as specified in Samsung’s app description.
- Follow Samsung’s current setup flow: Use the Multi Control settings and prompts available on your devices. Exact menus can vary by model and software version.
Microsoft’s 2023 feature description also says the Galaxy device should be linked to the Windows PC using Link to Windows and Phone Link and signed in with the same Microsoft account. Since this instruction may depend on the software and device configuration, check the current setup flow rather than assuming Samsung-account requirements replace it.
Multi Control or Phone Link: choose by task

Samsung’s Phone Link instructions describe opening or installing Phone Link on the PC, choosing Android, scanning a QR code, and approving requested permissions. Newer Galaxy phones may have Link to Windows built in; Samsung says it can also be installed from the Play Store when it is not integrated. Features and settings vary by model and software version. Samsung says the devices typically need to be on the same network, with a mobile-data setting available.

If Multi Control is unavailable
- Your computer is not a supported Galaxy Book: Phone Link may still provide supported phone features on Windows 10 or 11, but installing it does not enable Multi Control on an otherwise ineligible PC.
- Your Galaxy Book is old enough but the feature is missing: Check its exact model, processor platform, and Samsung Settings version. Samsung notes that some models have limited support.
- Your phone or tablet does not meet the published threshold: Compare its current One UI version and model with Samsung’s current compatibility guidance; the published minimums have differed across sources.
- Devices do not connect: Check that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on both devices and that the same Samsung account is in use, as specified in Samsung’s app description. Also check the current Samsung setup prompts for any additional linking requirements.
Should you get a Galaxy Book for Multi Control?
A compatible Galaxy Book is the relevant PC category if keyboard-and-trackpad control across devices is the goal, but do not assume every Galaxy Book supports the feature. Confirm the precise model, release year, processor platform, Samsung Settings version, and any stated limitations before buying. If your main need is calls, messages, notifications, photos, or screen access, Samsung’s Phone Link guidance may be a better match for a Windows 10 or 11 PC you already own.
