To test your internet speed with Bing, search for internet speed test or bandwidth test, then open a speed-test service from the results. Check that it reports both download and upload speeds: Bing results can vary, and Microsoft’s guidance is to search the web for “bandwidth test,” not to rely on a dedicated Bing speed-test control.

How to run a speed test from Bing

  1. Open Bing and search for internet speed test or bandwidth test. Microsoft Support gives the instruction: “To test your connection speed, search the web for ‘bandwidth test.’” Microsoft’s OneDrive speed guidance does not describe a dedicated Bing-native test control.

  2. Choose an available speed-test service. Before starting, confirm that it provides both download and upload results if you need both. For example, Ookla describes a test that measures ping, download, and upload; FAST.com initially emphasizes download and shows upload after you select Show more info.

  3. Run the test. Record the download and upload figures in Mbps, the time, and whether the device was connected by Wi-Fi or Ethernet. If a result seems unusually high or low, repeat the test under similar conditions. Ookla lets users repeat a test against the same server or choose a different one.

    • What you will get: 1 * TLP-123A Network Cable Tester, 1 * user manual, 2 * AAA batteries
  4. For a more useful comparison, pause other heavy internet activity and keep the test setup consistent. If Wi-Fi may be affecting the result, repeat the test over Ethernet where practical. Microsoft recommends a wired connection for OneDrive transfer speeds, but a wired test still measures only the connection path used at that moment; it does not guarantee that every task will match your plan’s advertised performance.

  5. If repeated results from several tests remain below what you expect from your service plan, contact your internet provider with the readings and conditions you recorded.

What download, upload, and ping mean

  • Download speed measures how quickly data arrives from internet servers. It affects activities such as loading websites, streaming, and downloading files.

  • Upload speed measures how quickly your connection sends data to a server. It matters for sending large files and for video or voice calls.

Google notes that download results can vary with the service plan, device, test server, location, and network congestion. A speed test is therefore a reading of a particular connection path at a particular time, not a guarantee of the speed every website or application will receive.

Why speed-test results can differ

Different services may use different servers and network paths. FAST.com estimates speed using downloads from and uploads to Netflix servers; Ookla describes ping, download, and upload testing and allows a different server to be selected. Results from those services need not match exactly, especially if congestion, device conditions, or the test location changes.

  • Battery Operated & Plug-and-Play: Powered by a standard 9V battery (not included) with a smart power-saving design for extended use. Operation is simple: just plug in your cable ends, switch to "ON" or "S", and get results instantly. No complex setup or software required.

FAST.com is designed for general individual use. Netflix says it is not designed or supported for certifying third-party services. If a single result is much lower than expected, retest before drawing a conclusion. If several tests repeatedly show less speed than you pay for, FAST.com also advises asking your internet provider about it.
