umux 1.7.0, released May 3, 2026, focuses on custom-domain handling and two terminal usability fixes. You can import a domain registered elsewhere by proving control with a DNS challenge, the app now repairs missing domain records and cleans them up when sites are deleted, and widened terminals should reflow correctly. The “close the window, keep the work” behavior belongs to the follow-up 1.7.1–1.7.3 releases, not 1.7.0 itself.
What umux 1.7.0 changes
The official PorkiCoder changelog groups this release around three areas: custom-domain data integrity, terminal resizing, and Zen-mode controls.
Import an existing domain
The new Import existing domain flow is for a domain you already own through a registrar such as Namecheap, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or another provider. You select the PorkiCoder-published site that should use the domain, then complete a DNS challenge to prove control. A successful import creates the corresponding custom_domains database row; it does not require purchasing the domain again through the app.
Reconcile registrar ownership on launch
At startup, umux checks domains owned at the registrar against its local database. If a domain is missing from custom_domains—for example, because it was acquired before that table existed or disappeared during an earlier schema change—the app recreates the row.

Delete domain records with their site
Deleting a published site now removes its attached custom-domain rows in the same transaction. That prevents stale records from blocking the domain when you later attach it to another site.
Correct terminal reflow after widening
Previously, shell output could continue wrapping at the old narrow width after you widened the window. The changelog attributes the fix to ungating PTY resizing, making resize handling idempotent, and running the debounced fit with requestAnimationFrame plus a 250 ms settling pass. These are the vendor’s implementation notes rather than an independent benchmark.

Move the Zen-mode indicator
The Zen-mode indicator moves from the top-right to a top-center button so it does not cover terminal controls. Escape handling now runs in the capture phase and stops propagation, preventing the key from also reaching xterm and cancelling terminal activity.
How the later releases keep work alive
The close-window promise in the title describes the three patch releases that followed 1.7.0. They address different windows and operating-system actions, so the behavior depends on what you close and how you close it.

What closing means on each platform
macOS detached terminal
For the detached terminal, the 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 notes describe a reattachment process rather than immediate script termination. The terminal session is handed back to the main IDE, with the handshake protections in 1.7.2 covering close races and failed reattachments.
macOS main IDE
In 1.7.3, closing or quitting the main window hides it so running PTYs can continue. Use the explicit Quit & terminate scripts command when you want those processes stopped. Clicking the Dock icon restores the hidden window.

Linux and Windows main IDE
The 1.7.3 notes explicitly retain close-and-clean-up behavior for the main window on Linux and Windows. The macOS hide-on-close semantics should not be assumed on those platforms.
Practical upgrade checklist
- Confirm that you are evaluating 1.7.0 separately from 1.7.1, 1.7.2, and 1.7.3; their close behavior is not part of the 1.7.0 feature list.
- For an outside-registrar domain, start Import existing domain, choose the published site, and add the DNS challenge record requested by umux.
- After verification, check that the domain is attached to the intended site before changing DNS at the registrar.
- If a previously known domain is absent locally, relaunch the app so startup reconciliation can recreate its
custom_domainsrow. - When testing terminal closure, distinguish a detached-window red-button close from a main-window close or an explicit quit-and-terminate action.
Bottom line on the release sequence
Install 1.7.0 for the domain-import and database-reconciliation work, the corrected terminal reflow, and the less intrusive Zen-mode control. Treat 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 as the detached-terminal safety fixes, and 1.7.3 as the macOS main-window preservation change. The “keep working after the window closes” result is therefore a release-sequence story, with platform-specific limits—not a feature delivered entirely in 1.7.0.
