The public account describes a preparation tool—not a digital CEO that makes decisions, or a confirmed voice or video replica.
What is Dara AI?
“Dara AI” is the name Khosrowshahi used for a chatbot that some Uber teams reportedly built. In remarks on Steven Bartlett’s podcast The Diary of a CEO, reported by TechCrunch on February 24, 2026, Khosrowshahi said employees make presentations to the bot as preparation for presenting to him.
He described the practice this way: “One of my team members told me that some teams have built a Dara AI, you know, so that they basically make the presentation to the Dara AI as a prep for making a presentation to me.” He added, “So they have Dara AI to tune their prep.” TechCrunch’s report links to the podcast appearance.
What does the reported chatbot do?
Based on Khosrowshahi’s description, its stated purpose is to let employees practice and refine slide presentations before meeting with Uber’s CEO. The public account does not explain how it responds, whether it critiques slides, or how closely its feedback reflects Khosrowshahi’s views. It establishes the rehearsal use, not the details of the interaction.

Is it a voice or video clone—or a CEO replacement?
Calling the tool an “AI clone” can suggest more than the available description supports. TechCrunch’s account does not establish that Dara AI reproduces Khosrowshahi’s voice or image, acts autonomously, makes executive decisions, or has authority to speak for him. The reported use is presentation rehearsal.
Those distinctions matter when discussing executive AI replicas generally. A text chatbot used for practice is different from a voice or video avatar, and both differ from an AI system that takes actions or makes decisions. The account does not identify Dara AI’s capabilities beyond the preparation use Khosrowshahi described.

What is known—and what has not been disclosed?
The public reporting identifies a name and a use case, but not the technical or operational details. It does not name the model or vendor, describe the system prompt or source material, explain how it was trained or configured, or state its access controls, evaluation process, or rollout beyond “some teams.” Those details should not be inferred from the word “clone.”
TechCrunch also reported Khosrowshahi’s estimates that about 90% of Uber’s software engineers use AI in their work and about 30% are “power users.” These are estimates attributed to the CEO in the report, not independently audited measurements; they do not establish how widely Dara AI itself is used.

What does Uber say about AI oversight?
Uber’s 2026 Governance Strategy and Engagement Report describes a company-wide, risk-based AI oversight model involving accountability, human judgment, and cross-functional review. It also says Uber introduced mandatory responsible-AI training for employees in 2025, with more technical education for employees who develop or deploy AI systems. The report provides general company context; it does not say what controls or training were applied specifically to Dara AI.
For that reason, the company’s broader governance statements should not be treated as a project-specific description of this chatbot. The public information does not establish how Dara AI’s outputs are checked or who can access it.
