You can use a Qualcomm-based phone or USB modem as a cellular diagnostic capture source if it exposes a Qualcomm DIAG interface that your computer can access. QCSuper can capture supported radio signaling for live analysis in Wireshark or save it as a PCAP file. A Qualcomm chipset alone does not guarantee compatibility, and “sniffer” here means inspecting diagnostic data from the connected device—not secretly capturing nearby phones’ traffic.
What the capture includes—and what it does not
QCSuper communicates with Qualcomm DIAG, also called QCDM or DM, through a diagnostic interface exposed by the phone or modem. The project describes capturing raw 2G, 3G and 4G radio frames, with 5G support limited to certain models. Its documented protocol layers include GSM, GPRS/EDGE, UMTS and LTE; do not assume every device or 5G network is supported. QCSuper’s project documentation describes the tool and its supported workflows.
By default, QCSuper captures signaling exposed through the device’s diagnostic interface, not the device’s ordinary generated IP traffic. The project also documents an option to include IP traffic. Those are different kinds of data: choose the capture mode based on whether you need radio signaling, IP packets, or both. This is not a way to intercept arbitrary over-the-air traffic from other people’s phones.
Check compatibility before connecting
Identify the exact phone or modem model and confirm its chipset, then check whether that model can expose a Qualcomm DIAG port. Device support and the procedure for enabling diagnostic access vary by handset, modem, firmware and manufacturer. A Qualcomm processor is only a clue; it is not proof that QCSuper will work. The project advises checking compatibility at the model level. Consult its current compatibility and setup documentation before changing device settings.

- Wide Carrier Compatibility: Works with major 4G providers including AT&T and T-Mobile with download speeds up to 150Mbps. Simply insert a SIM card and get all your Wi-Fi devices connected to the internet, convenient for places where cable internet is unavailable, such as holiday cabins or remote cameras. Fully supports 4G LTE Frequency Band: B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B17/B25/B26/B66/B41 WCDMA: B2/B4/B5/B8 (Verizon requires TTL set to 64 or 65 based on different data plan)
- High-Speed Connectivity: 4G LTE Cat4 with cellular download up to 150Mbps and N300 dual-band wireless speeds reaching 300Mbps for smooth streaming, lag-free online gaming, and quick file sharing
- Enhanced Signal Coverage: High-gain four antennas expand signal reach throughout houses, providing reliable internet connection for 32 smart home devices via wired LAN links with 4 fast Ethernet ports
- Advanced Security Features: Embedded L2TP, PPTP, OpenVPN, and WPA3 encryption safeguard data privacy, while Mesh capability allows seamless roaming network expansion across rooms
- Simple Setup Process: Built-in standard SIM card slot with plug-and-play functionality allows immediate cellular internet access without configuration, featuring user-friendly web interface for effortless management
- Android phone: QCSuper documents an ADB route to the device’s
/dev/diaginterface for rooted phones. Root access may be required for this path. - USB diagnostic port: Some phones expose DIAG over USB after the appropriate device-specific diagnostic mode is enabled.
- USB modem: A modem may present a diagnostic pseudo-serial port over USB. Some models require a vendor-specific command to expose it, so there is no universal command that is safe to recommend for every modem. QCSuper’s protocol documentation describes these connection approaches.
Rooting a phone or enabling a hidden diagnostic port can affect security, stability or warranty status. Do not follow an unlocking recipe intended for a different model or firmware. A USB data cable can connect compatible hardware to a computer, but it cannot create a DIAG interface the device does not expose.
Capture with QCSuper
Once you have confirmed that the computer can reach the device’s DIAG interface, QCSuper offers two documented analysis paths: stream a live capture to Wireshark or write a capture to PCAP for later inspection. Follow the project’s current installation and command instructions, since the correct connection method depends on whether your device uses ADB, a USB DIAG port or a modem’s diagnostic serial interface. The project documentation is the source for current setup details.

- FAST 4G LTE CONNECTIVITY: Allowed for downloads at speeds up to 150Mbps and uploads 50Mbps for uninterrupted HD streaming, gaming, video calls and more. Please check with preferred carrier on data plan details and limitations. This 4G router works with AT&T and T-Mobile only. (NOT for Verizon or Sprint and SIM Card not included)
- DUAL BAND SIGNAL TECHNOLOGY: With both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands, AC1200 Router will give you a more stable network. 2.4GHz band can meet the basic network tasks, such as web browsing, reading emails, chatting online and more. It will switch to 5GHz frequency band to get a refreshing and practical experience when playing online games or watching HD videos
- 1200MBPS WIFI SIGNAL SPEED: Convert 4G LTE signal to Wi-Fi providing 900Mbps 5.0GHz and 2.4GHZ 300Mbps speed. It can support 32 devices at the same time, keep all of wireless devices connected
- UNINTERRUPTED NETWORK CONNECTION: 1x RJ45 WAN port to connect to modem; 4x RJ45 Ethernet ports to connect wired device or network switch. Automatically switch to the 4G network when the broadband network is disconnected
- USER-FRIENDLY 4G ROUTER SETUP: Extremely easy to set up for beginners. All you have to do is simply insert your standard 4G SIM card, followed by keying-in the password. No hassle. No extra equipment needed
- Confirm the model and interface. Verify that the exact device is supported and determine how its diagnostic interface is exposed.
- Connect using the device-specific method. For a rooted Android phone, use the documented ADB path; otherwise, use a DIAG port or modem interface that the manufacturer or project documents for that model.
- Choose the data you need. Use the default signaling capture for radio diagnostics. Enable IP traffic capture only if that is needed and supported by your setup.
- Choose live or saved analysis. Send supported output to Wireshark for live inspection or save it as PCAP for a later review.
Diagnostic captures can contain sensitive information about device activity. Capture only equipment and data you are authorized to inspect, and handle saved PCAP files accordingly.
