Road to VR reports that Duuro Plays created a WebXR preview that runs in Quest 3’s browser and lets you switch between a Quest 3 view and a Meta VR Glasses view. It is a comparison of viewing boundaries, not a reproduction of the glasses’ optics, fit, or image quality. [Road to VR]
How the WebXR preview works
The reported preview presents a view mask intended to show the difference between Quest 3’s wider field of view and Meta VR Glasses’ narrower one. Road to VR says it runs in Quest 3’s native browser and can toggle between the two. The article links to the preview, but its current availability and behavior have not been independently confirmed here. [Road to VR]
To try it, open the linked preview in Quest 3’s browser and use its toggle to compare the views. The WebXR preview is the consumer-facing option described by Road to VR; you do not need Meta’s developer tools simply to visit it.
How much narrower is the view?
Road to VR compares Quest 3 at 110° horizontal by 96° vertical with Meta VR Glasses at 70° by 66°. Those Quest 3 comparison figures are reported by Road to VR, not presented here as Meta’s official Quest 3 specification. [Road to VR]

Meta’s 2026 developer specifications give Meta VR Glasses a nominal straight-ahead field of view of 70° horizontal by 66° vertical. Meta describes that figure as an upper bound: fit, eye position, and gaze can make the area a wearer sees smaller. [Meta Horizon OS Developers]
Meta also lists a 74° horizontal by 68° per-eye render extent. That is the area rendered, not a promise that the wearer sees the whole area. Its separate 58° horizontal by 54° vertical “perceived” value is an optional simulation target, not the nominal field-of-view specification. [Meta Horizon OS Developers]

What the preview can—and cannot—tell you
- It can illustrate the crop. A narrower boundary helps convey how much less of the surrounding scene may fit in view compared with Quest 3.
- It cannot predict your exact visible area. Meta says fit, eye position, and gaze affect the visible field, so an abstract mask cannot determine how the glasses will look on a particular person. [Meta Horizon OS Developers]
- It is not an optical or comfort test. A field-of-view preview does not establish image quality, lens effects, comfort, or physical fit.
Meta’s developer simulation is a separate option
For developers checking whether content will be clipped or difficult to see, Meta documents a device-level field-of-view simulation through Meta VR CLI. It is distinct from the WebXR comparison preview. The device workflow supports Quest 3S, Quest 3, and Quest Pro, and the headset must be in developer mode. [Meta Horizon OS Developers] [Meta Horizon OS Developers]
- Connect a developer-mode Quest 3S, Quest 3, or Quest Pro and open a terminal with Meta VR CLI available.
- For the nominal field-of-view target, run
metavr device fov-sim enable. For Meta’s smaller perceived simulation target, runmetavr device fov-sim enable --perceived. [Meta Horizon OS Developers] - Check the app or content in the headset for clipping and hard-to-see elements. The override is temporary and resets when the headset reboots. Meta says simulation does not replace final validation on the physical device. Developers should check their experience on the actual target hardware before release. [Meta Horizon OS Developers]

Should you use it before upgrading?
If your main concern is losing peripheral view, the reported Quest 3 preview is a quick way to see the scale of the narrower boundary. Treat it as a rough visual comparison: the actual visible area depends on fit and gaze, and the preview cannot establish how the glasses’ optics or comfort will feel. For developers, Meta’s simulation offers configurable targets for checking content, but it is not a substitute for testing on the physical device.
