In Polygon’s June 2026 comparison, Polygon’s estimated fee for a stablecoin transfer is lower than TRON’s—but those figures are approximate, not a live quote or an independently matched test. The right network is the one your recipient supports for the exact token you are sending. Check that before comparing fees: USDT on TRON and USDT on Polygon are not interchangeable deposit instructions.
How do TRON and Polygon compare?
| Measure | TRON | Polygon | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approximate transfer fee | About $0.50–$1 | About $0.002 | Polygon’s guide, “How to Move Money with Stablecoins,” published June 18, 2026, gives these approximate figures. It does not provide an independently matched benchmark or a guaranteed fee. |
| Approximate transfer time | About 3 seconds | About 5 seconds in the same guide | The figures come from that June 2026 guide; they are not necessarily measurements of the same point in a transfer. Polygon separately describes roughly 2-second block times, which is not the same as recipient-visible settlement. |
| Fee model | Bandwidth and Energy; TRX may cover resource shortfalls. | EVM gas, with the fee shown in the wallet or transaction flow. | A current estimate for the actual transaction is more useful than a published general figure. |
Polygon’s broader stablecoin overview also describes fees below a penny. Treat that as a general published estimate, not a promise that every transfer will cost that amount. Fees vary, and the number shown in your wallet before you sign is the one to check for your transaction.
Why does a TRON transfer cost what it does?
TRON measures transaction data with Bandwidth and smart-contract computation with Energy. Sending a TRC-20 token such as USDT calls a smart contract, so a transfer can use both resources. If an account lacks enough, TRX can be burned to cover the shortfall.
The TRON Developer Hub documents a free allowance of 600 Bandwidth per account per rolling 24-hour window and no free Energy allowance. Users can obtain resources by staking TRX or receiving delegated resources. Actual cost depends on the resources available to the sender, contract execution, and current network parameters; TRON’s documentation cautions that parameters can change.

MetaMask’s TRON help documentation says the wallet uses TRX when an account’s resources are insufficient. It also notes that a newly created TRON account may need activation: receiving a TRC-20 token does not activate it.
Which network is cheaper for USDT?
The available published comparison favors Polygon on its estimated fee, but it is dated June 2026 and does not establish what either network will charge for your specific transfer now. A blanket claim that TRON is always cheaper—or that Polygon always costs less—would ignore TRON’s resource-based costs and changing transaction conditions. Compare the live transaction estimate in your wallet rather than relying on a static fee table.

Speed figures need similar care. Block time, transaction inclusion, and the point at which a recipient or exchange treats a transfer as settled are different measures. The cited figures do not establish a like-for-like settlement-time winner.
Check the token and network before sending
A ticker such as USDT or USDC does not identify a unique asset across chains. The token contract and selected network determine what you are sending; the recipient’s wallet or exchange must accept that same asset on that same network.

USDT on Polygon and TRON
Polygon describes its USDT as native on Polygon. It also describes third-party bridge and decentralized-exchange routes for moving USDT between networks. A direct Polygon transfer is not itself a cross-chain transfer, and a token arriving on another chain may be a different representation.
Native USDC versus USDC.e
Polygon distinguishes native USDC from bridged USDC.e. Its integration documentation lists the native Polygon PoS USDC contract as 0x3c499c542cEF5E3811e1192ce70d8cC03d5c3359. If a recipient specifies USDC, confirm which version and network they mean rather than relying on the ticker alone.

Wallet support: what to verify
MetaMask documents support for TRON and Polygon. That does not mean every exchange, wallet, or deposit address supports every token on both chains. A wallet app’s ability to interact with a network and a service’s ability to receive a particular asset are separate checks.
- Ask the recipient for the exact stablecoin and network they accept.
- Confirm the wallet or exchange supports that combination, including any required token version.
- On TRON, check that the sending account has sufficient Bandwidth and Energy or enough TRX for any resource shortfall; confirm activation if the account is new.
- Review the network, destination address, token, and current fee in the confirmation screen before signing.
How to move a stablecoin between TRON and Polygon
Moving a token from one chain to another is a separate operation from sending it directly on a single chain. It requires a supported route, such as a bridge or decentralized exchange, and may deliver a different token representation.

For USDC, Polygon describes Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) as a burn-on-source, mint-on-destination route. Polygon describes its Fast Transfer mode as taking under 30 seconds; that is not a guarantee for every transfer. For USDT, Polygon points to third-party bridge or DEX options. Before using any route, verify that it supports your source and destination networks and the token you need, and review its fees and destination asset.
