Verdict: Transcend JetDrive Lite is worth considering as low-profile, always-in-slot storage only if your exact MacBook model appears on Transcend’s compatibility chart. The 130, 330, 350 and 360 variants fit different Mac generations; a similar-looking card slot is not enough to confirm compatibility.

Which Transcend JetDrive Lite fits your MacBook?

JetDrive Lite is a family of storage expansion cards sized for the card-reader slot on specifically supported MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models. Transcend’s current product page and compatibility chart list four variants:

Variant Mac models listed by Transcend Fit guidance
JetDrive Lite 130 Certain 13-inch MacBook Air generations Confirm your specific generation and model in Transcend’s chart.
JetDrive Lite 330 Selected 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro generations, plus newer 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models The current chart includes newer hosts not covered by some older product materials.
JetDrive Lite 350 Selected 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models Check the exact model entry; the 350 and 360 are not interchangeable by assumption.
JetDrive Lite 360 Selected 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro generations Use the current chart to distinguish supported generations from the 350.

Transcend’s FAQ says it does not guarantee seamless fit on computers outside its official compatibility list. Do not buy an unlisted variant on the basis of slot appearance alone; verify the precise Mac model identifier against the live chart immediately before purchase. The chart was retrieved on October 5, 2026, and manufacturer listings can change.

How much storage does JetDrive Lite add?

Capacity depends on the exact variant and SKU, and Transcend’s documents do not always show the same range. The current JetDrive Lite 130 support page lists these capacities:

Variant and source Listed capacities Part-number guidance
JetDrive Lite 130, current support page 128GB, 256GB and 512GB Match the part number to the capacity and product listing before ordering.

Older series materials list lower capacity options, so do not apply the 130’s specifications to the 330, 350 or 360—or assume older packaging reflects today’s complete range. The 130 support page is the relevant source for that model’s specifications; confirm the exact part number on the product listing for any other variant.

What are the speed claims, and what should you expect?

Transcend’s current 130 support page specifies maximum performance of up to 95MB/s read and 75MB/s write. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent benchmark results; the page says actual speed can vary with host hardware, software, use and storage capacity. Older series material gives different maximums—up to 95MB/s read and 60MB/s write—so use the model-specific current page rather than treating one figure as representative of every JetDrive Lite card.

There is a specific host limitation for older Air models: Transcend notes reduced performance on Late 2010, Mid 2011 and Mid 2012 MacBook Air computers because their card readers support only up to USB 2.0 transfer speeds. That limitation belongs to the host reader, not just the card specification.

What do the specifications and warranty establish?

The current 130 support page lists an operating temperature range of -25°C to 85°C and operating voltage of 2.7V to 3.6V. It also lists a five-year limited warranty for that model’s documentation. Older series copy advertises a limited lifetime warranty, which makes it important to check the warranty terms for the precise SKU and region with the seller or Transcend before relying on a coverage period.

Transcend’s product copy describes the card as a way to “instantly boost your storage capacity” by inserting it into a MacBook’s card-reader slot. That describes the intended convenience, but it is promotional wording rather than evidence of independent fit, speed or reliability testing. Independent endurance data and hands-on performance results are not established here.

Is JetDrive Lite a good choice for your use?

  • Consider it if your exact Mac is listed, you want extra storage to remain in the card slot, and the specific capacity and part number suit your needs.
  • Do not assume it will fit if your Mac is absent from Transcend’s chart, even if the slot looks similar or belongs to the same broad MacBook family.
  • Set modest performance expectations if you have one of the older Air models with a USB 2.0 card reader, or if your intended workload depends on sustained transfer performance.
  • Check current availability and terms on the specific product listing. Current prices, stock and independent endurance results are not established here.

For practical support questions such as slow writes, APFS formatting, installing an operating system or using Time Machine, Transcend lists related topics in its support materials. The existence of those FAQs alone does not establish that every setup or use case will work as expected; check the guidance for your precise model and macOS configuration.
