Choose the TP-Link Deco BE63 if you want a tri-band mesh system with a 6 GHz band; choose the Deco BE25 if dual-band Wi-Fi 7 meets your needs and you do not need 6 GHz. The BE63 has higher advertised aggregate Wi-Fi speeds, but those labels are not a promise of a particular internet speed or single-device result. TP-Link’s published specifications do not establish which system will perform better in your home.
Deco BE25 vs. BE63: the key differences
The main distinction is the radio configuration: the BE25 is dual-band (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz), while the BE63 adds 6 GHz for a tri-band setup. Both list Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, including Multi-Link Operation (MLO), 4K-QAM, and Multi-RUs. The BE63 lists support for 320 MHz channels; the BE25 lists 240 MHz. Actual use of these features depends on compatible client devices and regional support.
| Specification | Deco BE25 | Deco BE63 |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi bands | Dual-band: 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz | Tri-band: 6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 2.4 GHz |
| Advertised Wi-Fi class | BE5000 | BE10000 |
| Advertised radio rates | 5 GHz: 4324 Mbps; 2.4 GHz: 688 Mbps | 6 GHz: 5188 Mbps; 5 GHz: 4324 Mbps; 2.4 GHz: 574 Mbps |
| Streams | 4 | 6 |
| Listed channel capability | 240 MHz | 320 MHz |
| Wired connectivity | Two 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports per unit | 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN connectivity listed |
| Manufacturer coverage claim | Up to 6,600 sq. ft. for a three-pack | Up to 5,800 sq. ft. for a two-pack |
| Manufacturer device-capacity claim | Up to 150 devices | Up to 200 devices |
These specifications and claims come from TP-Link’s current US product pages and comparison listing, accessed in 2026: TP-Link Deco comparison, Deco BE25 specifications, and Deco BE63 specifications. The BE5000 and BE10000 labels aggregate advertised radio rates; they do not mean one device will receive 5 or 10 Gbps. The listed rates are vendor-stated PHY rates, not speed-test measurements.
Is the Deco BE63 worth it over the BE25?
Choose the BE63 for 6 GHz and tri-band flexibility
The BE63 is the more feature-rich option on paper. Its 6 GHz band is the defining reason to step up from the BE25, especially if you have devices that support 6 GHz and want a mesh system with that additional band. Its higher Wi-Fi class and six-stream specification are useful distinctions, but neither guarantees a faster experience for every client or home.

Choose the BE25 if dual-band is enough
The BE25 still lists Wi-Fi 7 features and two 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports per unit on TP-Link’s US page. If your clients do not support 6 GHz, or you have no particular need for a third band, the BE25 may be sufficient. Decide based on your devices, wired equipment, and internet service rather than the BE5000 or BE10000 label alone.
How to compare coverage claims fairly
TP-Link advertises up to 6,600 sq. ft. for a three-unit BE25 pack and up to 5,800 sq. ft. for a two-unit BE63 pack. These are manufacturer estimates for different pack sizes, not a like-for-like coverage test. They do not show which model will cover a particular floor plan better.

- Compare the same number of units if you are trying to assess coverage; do not treat the listed pack estimates as a controlled comparison.
- Consider your home’s layout, building materials, node placement, and neighboring networks, all of which can affect real-world coverage.
- Read the device-capacity figures as maximum manufacturer claims: the BE25 lists up to 150 devices and the BE63 up to 200. Those figures do not promise that every connected device can run high-bandwidth tasks at once.
Check your devices, wired setup, and region before buying
Check 6 GHz client support
Make an inventory of the devices you expect to benefit from the network and confirm whether their Wi-Fi radios support 6 GHz. The BE63’s extra band is most relevant when you have compatible clients; the product specifications do not determine what radios your devices have.
Match the ports to your internet and wired devices
Both models list 2.5 Gbps wired connectivity, and the BE25 specifies two 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN ports per unit. Check the port details for the exact BE63 hardware version you are considering, then compare them with your modem, internet plan, and wired equipment. A port’s maximum link rate does not increase the speed supplied by your internet service.

Consider Ethernet backhaul only if you can wire the nodes
TP-Link lists optional Ethernet backhaul for both systems. If your home already has a suitable Ethernet path between mesh units, a wired backhaul is an available setup; if not, buying cable only makes sense when you plan a run and have accounted for its length and installation.
Confirm the regional model and pack contents
The figures above refer to TP-Link’s US product pages. Check the model variant, included unit count, and regional specifications before ordering: TP-Link’s product guide distinguishes US and EU speed variants for some Deco models.

- More Gigabit Ports - Each Deco X55 has 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports(6 in total for a 2-pack) and supports Wired Ethernet Backhaul for better speeds. Any of them can work as a Wi-Fi Router
Which one should you buy?
For a US buyer who wants 6 GHz and a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh system, the BE63 is the clearer fit. If dual-band Wi-Fi 7 is enough and 6 GHz is not a priority, the BE25 remains a capable alternative with 2.5 Gbps ports listed per unit. Neither the aggregate Wi-Fi class nor the manufacturer’s coverage claims can predict performance in a specific home; select the pack and model around your clients, wiring, and layout.
