The game named in the PlayStation Store notice is Tower of Fantasy. Support and updates for its PS4 version are scheduled to end on October 20, 2026, but the notice does not say that the game is shutting down completely: it says the PS5 version will continue normally, with gameplay and updates unaffected.
What changes, and when?
The PlayStation Store notice gives two dates for the PS4 version:
- September 22, 2026: Paid items are scheduled to be removed from the in-game store and PlayStation Store.
- October 20, 2026: Support and updates for the PS4 version are scheduled to end.
The notice attributes the decision to hardware performance limitations and platform application size requirements. Read the Tower of Fantasy PS4 listing notice on PlayStation Store.
Is Tower of Fantasy shutting down completely?
No full shutdown is confirmed by the notice. Its October 20 date is specifically about PS4 support and updates. The same notice says the PS5 version will continue to operate normally, and its gameplay and updates will not be affected. It does not give a cutoff date for PS5. See the Tower of Fantasy PS5 listing on PlayStation Store.

Can you still play on PS4 after October 20?
The available PlayStation Store notice does not say whether the PS4 game will remain launchable after the cutoff, whether its online servers or account features will continue, or what happens to saved progress and previously purchased items. It confirms the end of support and updates, not the end of access or service. Tower of Fantasy is listed as requiring online play, but that requirement alone does not establish whether PS4 online play will remain available after October 20.
What about PS4 progress or purchases on PS5?
The notice does not explain whether saved progress, accounts, or purchases transfer from PS4 to PS5 or another platform. The fact that the PS5 version continues normally is not confirmation that PS4 data or purchases carry over. Check an official game announcement or support channel for transfer details before making plans based on your PS4 account.
