Together Link is a free, MIT-licensed beta command-line tool that connects supported coding agents to open models hosted by Together AI. It lets you keep an agent such as Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode while sending model requests to Together; it does not run those models locally. The CLI itself is free, but inference requires a paid Together API key, and an optional Anthropic key can add Anthropic charges for Opus 5.5 requests in Claude Code or Claude Desktop.
What Together Link does
Together Link acts as a launcher and provider connection for supported agents and desktop apps. Together says terminal tools receive temporary settings for each launch, while desktop integrations use separate profiles that can be reversed. That means the intended workflow is to change which hosted model serves an existing interface, rather than replace the interface or install model weights on your computer. The product page lists Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT Desktop, Codex, OpenCode, and Pi. Together’s FAQ specifies OpenCode 2+ and Pi 0.80.8+; supported integrations and requirements may change while the product remains in beta.
What you need to get started
- A Mac or Linux system; Together currently lists these operating systems as supported.
- A Together API key, which pays for model inference.
- An installed supported coding agent or desktop app. Check the current integration requirements, including the OpenCode and Pi minimum versions, on the official product page.

These are Together’s published instructions; the available information does not establish an independent installation test. Because this is a beta CLI, check the current vendor documentation if an integration, command, or requirement differs on your system.
Models and listed token prices
Together’s product page lists Kimi K3, GLM 5.3, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, and MiniMax M3. It displayed the following rates when accessed in 2026. Prices are per million tokens and can change, so confirm the live rates before using a model.

The product page does not state prices for DeepSeek V4.1 Flash or MiniMax M3 in the cited listing. Check Together’s current model and pricing display rather than assuming a rate.
How Auto Router chooses a model
Together says Auto Router evaluates the first task in a session and makes one routing choice for that session. Its launch post says, “Routing happens once per session, so prompt caching keeps working.” Without an Anthropic key, Together describes routing between GLM 5.3 and GLM 5.3 Flash. With an Anthropic key, Claude Code and Claude Desktop can route between GLM 5.3 and Opus 5.5. The Opus option is a separate Anthropic-billed path, not part of Together inference billing.

Together says sessions print token and dollar totals, and a usage report covers the last seven days. These reports can help you inspect usage, but they do not make the underlying inference free.
What “free” means—and what savings claims establish
Together Link is free software, but using hosted models consumes paid inference through your Together API key. If you enable the Anthropic route, Opus 5.5 requests in Claude Code or Claude Desktop can also incur Anthropic charges. Account for both providers when estimating your total cost.

Together advertises savings of more than 50%; its FAQ frames the claim as 50–80% compared with running every session on Opus 5.5. These are company claims, not independently established results. Your actual cost depends on the tasks you send, routing choices, model rates, input and output token volume, and any Anthropic usage. The official sources do not establish a controlled independent savings test.

In its 2026 launch post, Together reported OpenRouter token shares as of September 30, 2026: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash at 40.8%, GLM 5.3 Flash at 28.2%, and Kimi K3 at 23.1%. These are figures reported by Together, not independently verified measurements of the overall market. They provide launch context, not evidence that one model will perform best for a particular coding task.

Who should consider Together Link
Together Link is relevant if you already use one of its supported tools and want to connect that interface to Together-hosted models, with per-session routing and usage reporting. Before adopting it, consider whether your operating system and agent version are supported, whether hosted inference fits your privacy and workflow requirements, and whether the model and any optional second-provider charges suit your budget. The available official information does not establish model-quality benchmarks or measured performance for individual coding workflows.
