How TOEM 2 plays
The goal is to travel through different environments and discover and photograph mysterious events called TOEMs. Along the way, you meet characters and critters, take on requests, and record quests and discoveries in a journal. Helping locals earns stamps, and the stamps unlock the next region, according to the official PlayStation description.

The camera is a puzzle tool
Photography is central to the game rather than a side activity: taking the right picture can complete a character’s request, solve a puzzle, reveal a secret, or document a discovery. Camera attachments add more ways to interact with the world, and some have uses beyond taking pictures.
Quests guide your route
PC Gamer describes travel between towns by bus, with photographic tasks for locals earning the stamps needed to move on. The reviewer found that each area has a clearer central quest than in the first game, linking residents’ needs to a special attachment. Outfits and a critter compendium offer additional goals for players who want to find more.

Is TOEM 2 relaxing or too hands-off?
The official description presents TOEM 2 as flexible and unhurried: it has no time limits or demanding requirements for full completion. That makes its exploration and optional discoveries a natural fit for players who want to proceed at their own pace.
Reviewers also highlight its personality. GamesRadar praised the writing, humor, and exploration, while PC Gamer described the quests as cute but felt parts of the progression were too automatic. That criticism points to a genuine tradeoff: clear objectives can make it easy to know what to do next, but players looking for more resistance or a less guided sense of accomplishment may find the route overly streamlined. These are reviewers’ impressions, not a guarantee of how every player will feel.

Platforms, release date, and Switch save compatibility
Store and review pages cover PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The listings give a September 29, 2026 release date for the PC, PlayStation, and Switch 2 versions. The Nintendo US listing says the Switch 2 edition supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes and is for one player.

Choose the Switch edition with that save-data limitation in mind if you may move between consoles: Nintendo’s compatibility note applies specifically to the Switch and Switch 2 versions. TOEM 2 looks like a strong fit for players who enjoy gentle exploration, camera-based puzzles, and funny, characterful encounters. Its stamps and area quests provide direction without time pressure, while the camera attachments give photography a broader role in play. The main reservation is the one PC Gamer raised: a clearly signposted progression path may feel too automatic if you want quests to challenge or surprise you more.
