The lineup shown by Xteink includes the 3.7-inch X3, 4.3-inch X4 Classic and 4.3-inch X4 Pro; their prices and availability can change. The available information does not establish which Kindle model or Prime Day price the original comparison referred to, so it cannot confirm that an Xteink is cheaper than a Kindle deal today.
How the Xteink models compare
The official Xteink store lists three models. Their main differences are screen size, controls and built-in lighting—not just price.

These are Xteink’s listed specifications and prices observed in the available product information, not guaranteed live prices or stock. The X3 listing showed sold-out status in one result while the official homepage still displayed it in the lineup, so check the current product page before buying. X3: the smallest listed option
Xteink lists the X3 at 58 g and 5.1 mm thick, with a 3.7-inch, 259 PPI screen. That makes it the smallest and lightest option in the listed lineup, but also the one with the least screen area. It has buttons and no front light, so it suits readers who prioritize carrying a very small device and are comfortable with its compact display and lighting limitations.

X4 Classic: a larger screen with buttons
The X4 Classic has a 4.3-inch display and physical buttons, with no front light. At about 68 g and from $79 on the official site when checked, it offers a larger display than the X3 without adding touch controls or integrated lighting.
X4 Pro: touch and integrated lighting
The X4 Pro keeps the 4.3-inch screen size and adds a touchscreen and front light. Xteink lists it at about 72 g and from $99. The extra cost over the Classic may make sense if you want touch input or expect to read in dim conditions; the difference is not simply a matter of choosing a bigger screen.

What you give up compared with a Kindle
A low listed price and a small form factor do not make an Xteink a like-for-like Kindle replacement. Kindle is associated with Amazon’s ebook store and device ecosystem; the X3 product page instead lists support for local files in TXT, EPUB, MOBI, PDF and PNG formats. Those formats do not establish access to Kindle’s store or its apps.
Tom’s Guide reported in a first-person account dated July 6, 2026, that the X4 does not offer on-device browsing of Amazon’s Kindle Store. That observation is specific to the X4 and the writer’s experience; it should not be treated as proof of behavior on every Xteink model or firmware version. Check the device’s current documentation if your purchase depends on a particular way of obtaining or transferring books.

The X3 product information also says a feature is compatible with the official Xteink app only. That is not evidence of broad support for third-party reading apps. If you rely on a specific app, store, library service or DRM-protected book workflow, confirm compatibility before choosing a device.
Does the X3 have a front light?
No. Xteink lists the X3 without a front light. The X4 Classic also has no front light; the X4 Pro is the model in this lineup listed with one. Xteink sells a magnetic reading light as an accessory, but check its current listing for compatibility with the model you plan to buy.

Is Xteink cheaper than a Kindle this Prime Day?
That cannot be confirmed from the available prices. Xteink’s listed direct-store prices are snapshots, and a September 2026 article from The Atlantic reported the X3 at $69 on Amazon—a dated price, not a current offer. The exact Kindle model and Prime Day price in the headline comparison are not established, either. Compare live prices for the same region and currency before treating one device as cheaper.
For the decision, compare more than the sticker price: a Kindle deal may offer a different screen size and access to a store-centered workflow, while an Xteink’s appeal is its compact size and support for listed local file formats. The best fit depends on whether pocketability or the reading ecosystem matters more to you.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the X3 if minimizing size and weight is your priority, you can read on a 3.7-inch screen, and you do not need a built-in front light.
- Consider the X4 Classic if you want a larger screen and physical buttons but do not need an integrated light or touchscreen.
- Consider the X4 Pro if you want a larger screen plus touch input and built-in lighting.
- Choose a Kindle or another established store-connected reader if direct access to Amazon’s book store or a Kindle-specific workflow is essential; confirm the exact model’s features and current deal before purchasing.
