Spoilers: This guide explains how to lift Morkvarg’s curse, what happens if you kill or spare him, and how the fang and werewolf-meat choices affect the quest. If you want the fang cure to remain available, learn how it works from Einar before killing him.
How to start In Wolf’s Clothing
The quest takes place in Freya’s Garden on Hindarsfjall. You can pick it up from a notice in Larvik; it can also overlap with Nameless when Geralt and Yennefer search the garden for Craven.
Morkvarg appears as a werewolf who cannot stay dead while the curse remains. Ordinary food turns to ash, and defeating him in an early encounter only delays his return. Investigate the garden, including its chapter house and flooded cave, and read Morkvarg’s journal. Loot the werewolf meat from his body if you intend to use the meat solution.
How to lift Morkvarg’s curse with Einar’s fang
Morkvarg’s journal points to Einar, one of his former crew. Speak to Einar to learn that the fang caused the curse and can lift it when returned to Morkvarg. Do this before choosing violence: killing Einar without learning how the fang works can leave it unusable for the cure.

What each choice does

Which choice is best?
There is no universally best outcome established by the quest guides. Decide based on what you want from this playthrough:
- Want Morkvarg dead without restoring his human form? Use the werewolf meat while the curse is active.
- Want to see him restored before deciding his fate? Learn the fang’s use from Einar, then give it to Morkvarg. You can choose whether he lives afterward.
- Want the treasure lead? Use the fang and ask Morkvarg for his reward before deciding whether to kill him.
- Want to preserve the fang cure? Speak with Einar and learn how to use the fang before killing him.
The meat and fang approaches produce different outcomes, so choose according to whether you want Morkvarg killed as a werewolf or made mortal first. The quest walkthrough on Witcher.tools frames one outcome with the line, “Remember, however, that it is a witcher’s job to kill monsters, not people, no matter how rotten they might be.” That is narrative voice for one outcome, not a universal gameplay rule.
