“Duck, Duck, Goosed!” is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Blood and Wine. Pick up the notice in the Land of a Thousand Fables, follow Balbina’s tracks with Witcher Senses, defeat Redbeard’s bandits, take the cage key from Redbeard, and free the goose. The quest reference lists 250 XP and a Golden Egg as rewards; a separate guide says eating the egg grants a skill point, though that effect is not confirmed across versions.
Quest details and where to start
The Witcher Wiki lists the suggested level as 47 and places the quest in Albertus Grotto, in Toussaint. It begins with a notice on the board in the Land of a Thousand Fables. The notice describes Balbina as a goose that lays golden eggs and says she fears she is being watched. Witcher Wiki quest reference

How to complete Duck, Duck, Goosed!
- Take the notice. Find and read the quest notice on the board in the Land of a Thousand Fables.
- Search Balbina’s home. Go to the goose’s home and activate Witcher Senses to reveal her tracks. The abandoned home and scattered plucked feathers point to an abduction.
- Follow the tracks. Use Witcher Senses as needed to follow the trail to Redbeard and his bandits.
- Defeat the bandits. Clear the encounter so you can search for the cage key.
- Find the key on Redbeard. Use Witcher Senses to locate it; the quest reference places the key on Redbeard’s body.
- Unlock the cage and free the goose. Releasing Balbina completes the objective and awards the listed quest rewards.
Games Lantern’s walkthrough gives the same objective sequence: Games Lantern walkthrough.

What the Golden Egg does
The Witcher Wiki lists a Golden Egg and 250 XP as rewards for completing the quest. Witcher Wiki quest reference Game8 reports that consuming the egg grants an extra skill point: Game8 walkthrough. That use is guide-reported, not verified here against official game documentation or across platforms and versions. If you intend to try it, keep the egg until you are ready to consume it rather than assuming it works identically in every edition.

The two walkthroughs describe a linear objective chain that ends when you free the goose; neither lists a branching choice or alternate reward. If the quest appears incomplete after the fight, check the two specific objectives most easily missed: loot the key from Redbeard’s body, then use it to unlock the cage. The available sources do not establish a widespread completion bug.
