That makes the GPU a concern for demanding, prolonged gaming—not a sign that the Pixel 10 is slow at everyday tasks or unable to play games.
What GPU does Tensor G5 use?
Independent reporting identifies Tensor G5’s graphics processor as Imagination’s PowerVR DXT-48-1536. Google’s August 20, 2025 announcement about the chip highlighted CPU, TPU, AI, manufacturing, security and camera improvements, but did not publish a GPU benchmark or GPU-performance percentage. Google’s stated CPU and TPU gains should not be read as graphics claims. Google’s Tensor G5 announcement says the TPU is up to 60% more powerful and the CPU is 34% faster on average; those are Google’s comparisons, not independent GPU results. Android Authority’s Tensor G5 analysis supplies the GPU identification and independent test results.
How much faster is Tensor G5’s GPU than Tensor G4?
In Android Authority’s 2025 testing, Tensor G5 delivered about a 27% peak improvement over Tensor G4 in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme. That is a result from one benchmark and a peak-performance comparison, not a promise of 27% more speed in every game or graphics task.
Other reviews also show a generational gain in a different benchmark, but their scores should remain tied to their own test. Android Central reported these 3DMark Wild Life Extreme scores for its tested devices in 2025:

| Honor Magic 7 Pro | 6,391 |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra | 4,855 |
| Galaxy Z Flip 7 | 4,400 |
These are Android Central’s review results, not a controlled comparison across all phone models or a universal measure of gaming speed. The tested set shows the Pixel 10 ahead of the Pixel 9 Pro XL in this workload but behind the listed Snapdragon-based rivals. Read Android Central’s Pixel 10 review.
Why does the GPU look weak in longer tests?
A short benchmark captures a burst of performance; a sustained test shows what happens as the phone heats up. Android Authority found that Tensor G5’s early lead diminished across repeated stress runs. By around the sixth or seventh run, results were close to the previous generation. In that review’s 20-run stress test, the Pixel 10 reached a peak temperature of 46.1°C, compared with 44.7°C for the Pixel 9. Those temperatures belong to that specific test and are not typical-use or guaranteed operating temperatures.

A separate 20-minute comparison from Android Authority placed the Pixel 10 toward the bottom of its tested group after sustained graphics load, with Snapdragon 8 Elite phones remaining substantially ahead in demanding long sessions. Test duration and conditions matter: a peak score, a stress-test result and a game’s frame rate answer different questions. Android Authority’s stress-test analysis and its 20-minute benchmark comparison describe those findings.
Is the Pixel 10 good for gaming?
For casual or shorter sessions, the available reviews do not suggest that games are broadly unplayable. Android Authority’s gaming assessment found tested games playable, while noting that the phone warmed quickly and its sustained performance was weaker. Reviews also described everyday tasks as running well. The clearer limitation is headroom: demanding games, higher graphics settings and long sessions are more likely to expose the gap between Tensor G5 and stronger gaming-focused or flagship graphics platforms.

Tom’s Guide reported 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited results of 80.58 fps for Pixel 10, 55.71 fps for Pixel 9, 158.02 fps for Galaxy S25 and 98.23 fps for iPhone 16 in its 2025 review. These are results from that review’s benchmark, and should not be combined with Android Central’s Wild Life Extreme scores or treated as frame rates in a particular game. Tom’s Guide’s Pixel 10 review provides the test context. For practical gaming comparisons, check actual game frame rates, graphics settings, compatibility, session length and device temperature rather than relying on one peak score.

- It does show: Tensor G5 improves on Tensor G4 in at least one peak GPU benchmark, while sustained testing narrows that gain.
- It does show: the Pixel 10 trails several tested rivals in graphics-heavy comparisons, particularly after prolonged load.
- It does not show: that Tensor G5 is slower than Tensor G4 in every graphics workload, that every game performs poorly, or that everyday phone use is slow.
- It does not establish: how later firmware or driver updates may affect the 2025 review results. Treat them as findings from the cited reviews, not a guarantee for every Pixel 10 or current software build.
Google has not published a GPU benchmark in the cited Tensor G5 announcement, so the performance picture here comes from independent reviewers. Their results depend on the benchmark, software version, phone model, cooling and test duration; smaller and larger phones can also behave differently under prolonged load.
