Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThe best Windows alternative depends on which MacBook Pro M5 you mean and what you do with it. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is a different target from Apple’s 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro or M5 Max. For a creator-focused Windows laptop, consider the ASUS ProArt P16 H7607; for a configurable mobile workstation, consider the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 8. Neither can be called a faster or longer-lasting replacement on the available specifications alone.
First, identify the MacBook Pro you want to replace
“MacBook Pro M5” can refer to distinct generations and chip tiers. Apple’s specifications identify a 14-inch M5 model introduced in 2025, as well as separate 14- and 16-inch M5 Pro and M5 Max models introduced in 2026. Their size, processor tier, memory, and storage configurations differ, so choose the closest target before comparing Windows machines.
For example, Apple lists up to 24 hours of video streaming and up to 16 hours of wireless web for the 14-inch M5 configuration. Those are Apple’s manufacturer estimates under its stated test conditions, not independent results or a direct comparison with either Windows laptop. See Apple’s 14-inch M5 specifications and its M5 Pro and M5 Max specifications.
Which Windows laptop fits your work?
| Model | Best fit | What the official specifications establish | What to verify before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| ASUS ProArt P16 H7607 | Creators looking for a Windows laptop for creative work | ASUS lists configurations with a 16-inch OLED display up to 3840 × 2400, touch and stylus support, and USB4 connectivity. | Exact regional SKU, processor, graphics, memory, storage, ports, and whether the desired display and pen features are included. |
| Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 | Professionals who need a configurable Windows mobile workstation | Lenovo documents configurable RTX PRO graphics and an optional 16-inch 3.2K Tandem OLED display; its PSREF configuration listings identify Intel Core Ultra options. | Machine type and exact SKU, including graphics, processor, display, memory, storage, and any application certification requirements. |
These are different kinds of alternatives, not a single ranked pair. ASUS positions the ProArt P16 for creators, while Lenovo identifies the P1 Gen 8 as a mobile workstation. A machine’s family-level specifications do not guarantee that every feature is present in every configuration. Check ASUS’s ProArt P16 H7607 specifications and Lenovo’s ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 PSREF listings against the specific product listing in your region.

How to compare one of these laptops with your MacBook Pro
Match the workload and software first
List the applications and workflows you rely on, then check that their Windows versions support the features, plug-ins, peripherals, and file formats you need. For professional software, check any requirements for dedicated graphics or certified workstation hardware. The P1 Gen 8’s RTX PRO options may be relevant to a workstation workflow, but the exact configuration and software support matter more than the model name alone.
Compare the display configuration you will actually use
Compare screen size and resolution, then check panel type, touch or pen support, refresh rate, and color specifications on the exact SKU. The ProArt family includes the listed high-resolution OLED option, while Lenovo offers a 3.2K Tandem OLED option on the P1 Gen 8. Neither option should be assumed to come standard across all regional configurations.

Check graphics, memory, and storage as a bundle
Record the M5, M5 Pro, or M5 Max tier and its memory and storage configuration, then compare those with the Windows laptop’s exact processor, GPU, memory, and drive. A listed GeForce or RTX PRO configuration is not itself proof of superior performance against Apple silicon: the official product pages do not provide controlled, directly comparable results for these machines.
Assess mobility using comparable evidence
Compare the weight and battery capacity of the actual configurations, but do not use capacity alone to predict unplugged runtime. The available manufacturer specifications and estimates do not establish a common-method independent battery-life comparison among these laptops and the MacBook Pro M5 models. Treat each vendor’s battery figure as that vendor’s estimate, not as a head-to-head result.

Compare ports, warranty, and local price
Check the port list on the exact SKU against your displays, storage, docks, and other equipment. Then compare local prices for machines with comparable memory, storage, display, and graphics, along with warranty coverage. Prices and stock vary by region and retailer; no current price or availability is established here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can—and cannot—be concluded
The specifications support a practical shortlist: the ASUS ProArt P16 H7607 is the creator-oriented option, and the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 8 is the workstation-oriented option. They do not establish a universal Windows winner, a performance ranking against any specific M5-tier MacBook Pro, or a battery-life winner. Make the decision from the exact configuration and workload rather than from the family name or a vendor’s headline claim.
