If you’re asking, “What should I play while I wait for Physint?”, start with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. It contains the first three Metal Gear Solid games and is the closest match for Kojima’s stealth-and-espionage work. Prefer a newer presentation? Choose the Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater remake. For a look at Kojima’s work beyond espionage, play Death Stranding Director’s Cut.
These are three different ways into Kojima’s games, not three required previews of Physint. Kojima Productions announced Physint as a new action-espionage game—not a Metal Gear sequel—and its January 2024 announcement gave no release date.
What is confirmed about Physint?
Kojima Productions announced Physint, a new action-espionage game made in partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment, on January 31, 2024. Hideo Kojima said preparations were underway and production would begin in earnest after Death Stranding 2. The announcement described an intended blend of film and games using advanced technology and a notable cast, but did not announce a release date. Kojima Productions’ announcement
In a February 2024 interview report, Kojima said requests from fans to make another Metal Gear influenced his decision to return to action-espionage, while also saying he wanted to create new things. That makes Metal Gear a useful genre comparison, but does not establish Physint as part of that franchise. GameSpot’s February 2024 report

Which Hideo Kojima game is closest to Metal Gear?
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1: the classic trilogy
For the clearest route into Kojima’s stealth and espionage games, choose Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. Konami says it includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The publisher describes the series as being about sneaking through hostile environments without detection. It also describes the collection as playable on current platforms; check your preferred platform and edition before buying, since this information does not establish a complete current regional availability list. Konami’s collection page
The trilogy offers the most direct genre preparation among these picks, but the games are older releases. Their controls and presentation may feel dated beside current games. That is a trade-off to consider, not a reason to treat them as a required briefing for Physint.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater: a modern remake
If you want to focus on the third game with updated visuals and sound, consider Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. Konami identifies it as a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, originally released in 2004, and says the remake retains the original story and game design while updating its visuals and sound. Konami’s 2025 report lists its launch as August 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Check the store for your region and platform for current availability. Konami’s 2025 report
This is an alternative to the older trilogy collection if a remake is more appealing; it is not a new Physint preview. If you want to follow the classic trilogy in sequence, the collection is the more direct option.

What should you play to see Kojima outside espionage?
Death Stranding Director’s Cut: an optional side path
Death Stranding Director’s Cut is the pick if you want to explore Kojima’s work outside the espionage genre. Kojima Productions says the edition adds character action, expanded areas, extended storylines through new missions, and a Social Strand System that connects players through in-game actions. Its 2022 announcement listed PlayStation 5 and PC availability. Kojima Productions’ Director’s Cut announcement
It broadens the picture of Kojima’s work, but it is not the closest match for the action-espionage premise announced for Physint. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is an optional next step if you already want more of that series; Kojima Productions’ homepage says it is out now on PC. Kojima Productions
