Lies of P is the closest overall pick in this group if you want a PC game that pairs Gothic atmosphere with forceful soulslike combat. If you want a different part of Bloodborne’s appeal, choose Thymesia for plague-themed solo combat, Mortal Shell for a slower defensive rhythm, Elden Ring for open-world exploration, Dark Souls III for another FromSoftware challenge, or Remnant for co-op and firearms. None is an exact replacement: the best choice depends on which part of Yharnam you want to carry into your next game.
What makes a PC game feel like Bloodborne?
Bloodborne’s appeal is more than difficult combat. FromSoftware’s official description sets the action in disease-stricken Yharnam, where illness transforms people into bestial creatures and the player hunts them as a Hunter. That mix of Gothic dread, bodily transformation, and aggressive action gives a useful framework for comparing alternatives. FromSoftware’s official Bloodborne page describes the premise.

For the recommendations below, “inspired” means sharing one or more of those qualities—not reproducing Bloodborne’s setting, systems, or feel. A useful way to choose is to decide whether you care most about atmosphere, combat pace, exploration, or playing with other people.
Which Bloodborne-like game should you play on PC?
| Game | Best for | How it compares |
|---|---|---|
| Lies of P | Gothic style and forceful soulslike combat | Closest overall blend here, with its own setting and mechanics |
| Thymesia | Plague fiction and fast solo combat | Strong thematic kinship, but a distinct weapon and combat system |
| Mortal Shell | A more defensive, deliberate challenge | Dark atmosphere, but a different combat cadence |
| Elden Ring | Open-world exploration and build freedom | FromSoftware challenge at a much larger scale, in a fantasy setting |
| Dark Souls III | Another FromSoftware action RPG | Related design sensibility, less specifically Gothic-horror in the cited comparison |
| Remnant: From the Ashes / Remnant II | Co-op and ranged combat | A broader action-soulslike alternative rather than a close combat match |
| Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice | Precision deflections and focused combat | Shares demanding action, but its combat loop is notably different |

#1 Best Overall
- Bloodborne Game of The Year
- If Bloodborne needs to be summed up, then the prevalent themes would be: exploring the fearsome unknown, intense life-and-death battles, and a familiar yet uniquely new online experience
- From the makers of the infamous Souls series, From Software's PS4 exclusive will attempt to take the tried and tested formula of giving players a sense of achievement to the next stage - especially when Miyazaki, the original creator of the Souls series is back at the helm
- What is promised is a harrowing experience like no other, and fans of tension, discovery, and straight up fun will sure to be excited to play Bloodborne
- If you have played the previous Souls games, then this one is a definite must buy
Closest overall match: Lies of P
Choose Lies of P if you want the closest combination of Gothic presentation and brisk, punishing melee action among these picks. PCGamesN describes its setting as drawing on Victorian Gothic and Belle Époque influences, and notes its fast combat and variety of weapons. The game is listed in Steam’s PC soulslike results. PCGamesN’s soulslike guide provides that comparison; Steam’s soulslike search lists PC options.
It is a stylistic cousin, not a substitute that recreates Yharnam. Pick it for the overlap in mood and forceful action, while expecting its own world and mechanics.
For plague horror and fast solo combat: Thymesia
Choose Thymesia if plague fiction and quick solo encounters matter more to you than a sprawling world. Its publisher explicitly positions it for fans of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, and describes plague as a weapon. The Steam listing emphasizes fast combat, a plague-weapon system, single-player play, and a Windows PC version. See Team17’s Thymesia page and Thymesia on Steam.
Rank #2
- Bloodborne - Game Of The Year Edition [PS4]
The thematic connection is direct, but its combat and weapons remain distinct. It is the clearest choice in this set for a compact, dark solo adventure built around plague imagery.
For a slower, defensive twist: Mortal Shell
Choose Mortal Shell if you want a punishing action game that asks for a more deliberate defensive rhythm. Its signature hardening mechanic lets the character withstand attacks, while occupying fallen warriors changes how you approach survival. The Steam description emphasizes awareness and precision; Mortal Shell’s Steam page outlines these mechanics.
It shares a dark atmosphere and demanding action, but it is not the closest pick for Bloodborne’s pace. Its hardening mechanic and fallen-warrior system give it a separate identity.
Rank #3
- A Terrifying New World: Journey to a horror-filled gothic city where deranged mobs and nightmarish creatures lurk around every corner.
- Strategic Action Combat: Armed with a unique arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll need wits, strategy and reflexes to take down the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's dark secrets.
- A New Generation of Action RPG: Stunningly detailed gothic environments, atmospheric lighting, and advanced new online experiences showcase the power and prowess of PlayStation 4.
For a bigger world or another FromSoftware challenge
Elden Ring: open-world exploration
Choose Elden Ring if you want FromSoftware’s demanding action in a much broader open world, with more emphasis on exploration and build freedom than on a tightly Gothic setting. Metacritic’s Bloodborne-alternatives comparison identifies it as the open-world option and lists PC availability. Metacritic’s comparison provides that framing.
Dark Souls III: familiar design lineage
Choose Dark Souls III if what you want most is another FromSoftware action RPG and challenge. The comparison points to its PC availability, but it does not frame the game as a close Gothic-horror match. It is a reasonable next step for the design lineage, not for reproducing Bloodborne’s particular atmosphere. Metacritic’s comparison also includes Dark Souls III.
For co-op and firearms: Remnant
Choose Remnant: From the Ashes or Remnant II if cooperative play and ranged combat are more important than matching Bloodborne’s melee feel. Metacritic’s comparison highlights co-op and firearms for Remnant: From the Ashes, while Steam’s soulslike results include Remnant II. Treat these as broader action-soulslike alternatives, not close copies of Bloodborne’s combat. See Metacritic’s comparison and Steam’s soulslike search.
Rank #4
- A terrifying new world: journey to a horror-filled gothic city where deranged mobs and nightmarish creatures lurk around every corner
- strategic action combat: armed with a unique arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll need wits, strategy and reflexes to take down the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's dark secrets
- a new generation of action RPG: stunningly detailed gothic environments, atmospheric lighting, and advanced new online experiences showcase the power and prowess of the PlayStation 4 system
- ever-changing chalice dungeons to explore: use Holy chalices to gain entrance to a network of vast underground ruins, filled with traps, beasts, and rewards, to explore and conquer alone or with others. These procedurally generated dungeons offer brand new challenges to master, and can be uploaded or shared with friends.Subtitle
For precise deflections: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Choose Sekiro if you want demanding combat centered on posture and deflections rather than a close match for Bloodborne’s broader combat feel. PCGamesN describes that focus as a distinct alternative, and Steam’s soulslike results list it as a PC option. Its shared appeal is the challenge and precision, not the same combat loop. See PCGamesN’s soulslike guide and Steam’s soulslike search.
