1. CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask: Series 2
Best overall facial anti-aging mask. CurrentBody’s Series 2 is a strong choice if you want a wearable mask with a broad wavelength combination and a short, defined routine. It uses 633nm red light, 830nm near-infrared light, and 1072nm deep near-infrared light. The mask contains 236 LEDs, lists irradiance of 30mW/cm², and runs a 10-minute treatment.
The device received FDA 510(k) clearance under K250966 on June 25, 2025. That is a useful regulatory detail, but it does not mean the FDA has ranked it above competing masks or validated every claim made in advertising. Series 2 also adds a chin strap intended to improve positioning and lower-face coverage.

Choose it when facial convenience and coverage are more important than treating large body areas. As with any mask, check whether it sits evenly across your face rather than relying on the LED count.
2. Omnilux Contour Face
Best straightforward, clinically established anti-aging mask. Omnilux Contour Face keeps the configuration simple: 633nm red and 830nm near-infrared light from 132 LEDs arranged in 66 bulbs. The manufacturer recommends 10-minute treatments three to five times per week for four to six weeks, followed by maintenance sessions.
At the listed $395 price, it is not a budget device, but the protocol is easy to follow and the two-year warranty covers both the mask and controller. Adjustable Velcro straps help with fit, which is important because a mask that shifts during treatment can expose different areas unevenly.
Contour Face is intended for concerns such as wrinkles and skin tone. It is not the Omnilux model to select specifically for acne; that is what Omnilux Clear is designed to address.

3. Omnilux Clear
Best for mild-to-moderate acne. Omnilux Clear combines 415nm blue light with 633nm red light. The blue-plus-red combination distinguishes it from anti-aging masks that use only red and near-infrared wavelengths. It has 132 LEDs, built-in protective eye shields, and a manufacturer-recommended schedule of four 10-minute treatments per week for six weeks.
After the initial course, Omnilux recommends using it when you notice the first signs of a breakout. The company lists FDA, CE, and TGA certifications for the device.
Do not buy an anti-aging-only mask expecting it to provide the same acne-focused treatment. Conversely, do not assume that a blue-light acne device is automatically the best choice for wrinkles or body pain. The indication and protocol are specific to the model.
4. Therabody TheraFace Mask
Best premium mask with added massage. TheraFace combines red light, red-plus-infrared light, blue light, and vibration therapy in a cordless mask. The current product page lists 648 LEDs, three- to nine-minute treatment options, a weight of 576g, and a US price of $649.99.

Red light device is a really thoughtful gift for your lover, your mother or father, grandma and grandfather, your friend and yourself.
The extra vibration is the reason to consider this model—not simply the high light count. It may appeal to users who want one wearable device that adds a massage feature to a light routine, but the mask is heavier than many simpler alternatives. Check the fit and weight if you plan to walk around while wearing it.
Therabody describes the mask as FDA cleared. Its cited clinical study involved 31 subjects using a preset treatment once daily for 12 weeks. Those results should not be treated as proof that every user will get the same outcome from every mode.
5. HigherDOSE Red Light Face Mask
Best lower-cost high-irradiance mask. The HigherDOSE mask uses 630nm red and 830nm near-infrared light. Its specifications include 66 dual-core LEDs, described as 132 diodes, total irradiance of 50mW/cm², a rechargeable controller, and 10- or 20-minute session options.
At a listed $349, it costs less than several premium facial masks while offering a comparatively high published irradiance figure. That number is meaningful only alongside the measurement distance and test method, however. Do not compare it directly with another manufacturer’s figure unless the testing conditions match.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The advertised FDA clearance and cordless controller make it a practical option for users who want a portable facial mask without moving to a large panel. Follow the specified session length rather than extending treatments because the irradiance number looks high.
6. Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro
Best for a very short facial treatment. The FaceWare Pro is designed around a three-minute daily program, making it one of the easiest devices to use consistently. Its manual describes 100 anti-aging red LEDs and 60 blue LEDs using 415nm blue, 605nm amber, 630nm red, 660nm deep red, and 880nm infrared spectra.
The short routine is its main advantage. It is less suitable if you want a larger treatment area or a device with a long list of adjustable settings. The manual also instructs new users to perform a three-minute test on the arm before using it on the face.
Do not use it over open wounds or skin that is painful, raised, crusting, or bleeding. That precaution is easy to overlook with a beauty device, especially when the treatment takes only three minutes.

7. LightStim for Wrinkles
Best handheld facial device. LightStim for Wrinkles uses 72 LEDs that emit amber, light red, dark red, and infrared light. The manufacturer says it is FDA cleared for treating wrinkles over the entire face and recommends holding it against the skin for three minutes per area.
A handheld design offers more control than a rigid mask: you can concentrate on the forehead, cheeks, jawline, or another area. The trade-off is time. Treating the entire face means repositioning the unit repeatedly, so it is not as effortless as starting a mask and waiting for the timer.
The five-year warranty is unusually long among home light devices and may matter if you prefer a repair-or-replacement safety net over a lighter wearable design.
8. Celluma PRO
Best versatile flexible panel for face, acne, and pain. Celluma PRO is a battery-powered, flexible 16-by-8-inch panel with separate manufacturer-cleared modes for aging skin, acne, and pain. It uses 465nm blue, 640nm red, and 880nm near-infrared light.

The manufacturer lists treatment of up to 30 minutes per day, a two-year warranty, and a $1,795 price.
This is the better fit for someone who wants one device for multiple body sites and indications. It is poor value if your only goal is a short facial routine, since less expensive masks provide a more convenient face fit.
9. Hooga PRO300
Best compact targeted panel for body use. The Hooga PRO300 uses 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared light from 60 dual-chip LEDs. It has a 12.7-by-8.6-inch footprint, built-in tabletop stand, timer, and a listed price of $299.
Hooga lists irradiance above 109mW/cm² at six inches and recommends an operating distance of six to 18 inches, with sessions ranging from two to 15 minutes depending on distance and goal. Those numbers make the panel attractive for targeted body treatment, but they also make protocol discipline important: moving closer or using the panel longer changes the delivered dose.

- RED & NEAR-INFRARED LIGHT FOR DAILY WELLNESS – The Hooga HG300 features 60 LEDs delivering 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared light, two popular wavelengths used in at-home red light routines for skin-focused care, workout recovery routines, sleep prep, energy support, and overall wellness.
- COMPACT PANEL, TARGETED SESSIONS – Designed for convenient, targeted use on smaller areas of the body. The HG300 is ideal for daily wellness sessions at home, whether you are using it in the morning, after exercise, while winding down at night, or as part of your regular self-care routine.
- HIGH-OUTPUT PERFORMANCE IN A SMALL FOOTPRINT – Delivers over 73 mW/cm² irradiance at 6 inches, with high-quality 5W LEDs, precision optics, and active cooling to provide strong, consistent light output in a compact and easy-to-use panel.
- EASY DESKTOP & TABLETOP SETUP – The adjustable tabletop stand makes it simple to position the panel on a desk, counter, nightstand, or table. Use red light, near-infrared light, or both together with independent controls to customize each session.
- COMPLETE STARTER KIT FROM HOOGA – Includes the HG300 panel, adjustable tabletop stand, protective eyewear, power cord, and user manual. Built with durable iron construction, a 50,000+ hour LED lifespan, Hooga’s 3-Year Warranty, and responsive U.S.-based customer support.
It is compact enough for a desk or shelf and more practical for a shoulder, knee, or small body area than a face mask. It is not designed to cover the same area as a full-size panel in one session.
10. MitoPRO 300X
Best compact multi-wavelength panel with independent testing. The MitoPRO 300X offers six selectable wavelengths: 590nm, 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm. Mito lists the 300X for targeted face-and-neck use; the panel weighs seven pounds.
The most useful feature for comparison shoppers is the published independent testing. Professional-lab data from an ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory reported average irradiance of 38.2mW/cm² and peak irradiance of 55.9mW/cm² at six inches. Mito also lists professional-lab irradiance above 130mW/cm² at six inches. The difference illustrates why irradiance figures from different brands cannot be compared without knowing whether the value is average or peak and how it was measured.
Select the 300X if wavelength control and measurement transparency matter more to you than a wearable mask. It requires positioning and a suitable stand or mounting arrangement, so it is less convenient for completely hands-free facial use.

Match the device to the treatment area
Masks are optimized for the face. Handheld devices let you target small areas but require repeated repositioning. Flexible panels cover more territory and can be used on the face or body, while compact rigid panels sit between those categories.
Understand the wavelengths
Visible red light commonly appears around 630–660nm. Near-infrared light, such as 810nm, 830nm, 850nm, or 880nm, is outside the visible spectrum. A larger wavelength number does not automatically mean better performance. The relevant combination includes wavelength, irradiance, treatment time, distance, coverage, and consistency.
Ignore LED-count marketing on its own
Manufacturers count emitters differently. Omnilux reports 66 bulbs and 132 LEDs, while HigherDOSE reports 66 dual-core LEDs or 132 diodes. TheraFace reports 648 lights. These figures do not by themselves tell you the dose, uniformity, or clinical effectiveness.
Compare irradiance under matching conditions
Irradiance changes as you move away from a panel. Values can also differ because brands use different meters, sensors, laboratory equipment, and reporting conventions. When comparing two devices, record all four details:

Verify the exact regulatory indication
FDA clearance is not the same as FDA approval, and “FDA registered” or “FDA certified” does not establish that a device is FDA cleared. A 510(k) clearance generally means the device was found substantially equivalent to a legally marketed predicate for a stated indication. It does not mean the FDA has ranked it as the best product.
Also check the indication itself. A device cleared for wrinkles is not automatically cleared for acne, pain, hair growth, or whole-body treatment. Celluma PRO, for example, lists separate modes for aging skin, acne, and pain, while Omnilux Contour and Omnilux Clear target different facial concerns.
Safety and common usage mistakes
- Do not extend the session arbitrarily. The recommended routines range from three minutes for FaceWare Pro to up to 30 minutes for Celluma PRO. Higher irradiance does not give permission to use a device indefinitely.
- Use the right device for acne. A red-and-near-infrared anti-aging mask is not interchangeable with a blue-and-red acne device.
- Check the fit. A mask that sits away from the skin or leaves the chin uncovered may deliver uneven exposure. Adjust straps before starting the timer.
- Ask a clinician about photosensitivity. The American Academy of Dermatology advises caution when taking photosensitizing medication. People with darker skin tones should also discuss visible-light treatment with a dermatologist if they are prone to hyperpigmentation.
- Do not treat suspicious or damaged skin. Follow the manual’s restrictions, including warnings about open, bleeding, crusting, painful, or raised areas.
- Check pregnancy and breastfeeding guidance. Omnilux says Contour has not been tested in pregnant or breastfeeding women and lists those conditions as contraindications. Other models may use different labeling.
- Follow controller charging instructions. Omnilux warns that some Face & Neck & Décolleté controllers should not be plugged in while charging; doing so can prevent operation and may damage the unit.
FAQ
What is the best red light therapy device overall?
For facial anti-aging use, the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask: Series 2 is the strongest overall pick because it combines 633nm, 830nm, and 1072nm light, a 10-minute routine, 236 LEDs, and FDA 510(k) clearance. Omnilux Contour Face is a simpler alternative with a well-defined 633nm and 830nm protocol.
Is red light therapy FDA approved?
Most products in this category are described as FDA cleared, not FDA approved. Clearance applies to a specific device and indication and does not mean the FDA has independently ranked it as the most effective. FDA registration or device listing alone is not proof of clearance.
How often should a red light therapy device be used?
Use the schedule for the exact model. Examples include three minutes daily for the DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro, three to five 10-minute treatments per week for Omnilux Contour, four 10-minute treatments weekly for Omnilux Clear, and up to 30 minutes daily for Celluma PRO.
Can one red light device treat wrinkles, acne, and pain?
Not automatically. Wavelength combinations, dose, body site, and regulatory indications differ. Omnilux Clear is designed for mild-to-moderate acne, Omnilux Contour targets facial anti-aging concerns, and Celluma PRO has separate modes covering aging skin, acne, and pain.
The Bottom Line
Choose the CurrentBody Series 2 for the best all-round facial mask, Omnilux Contour Face for a simple anti-aging routine, and Omnilux Clear for acne. The TheraFace Mask adds premium vibration, while FaceWare Pro is the quickest routine. For body treatment, choose Celluma PRO for broad flexibility, Hooga PRO300 for compact value, or MitoPRO 300X if independently reported measurements and wavelength selection are priorities.
Whichever model you buy, compare the actual protocol and measurement conditions—not just LED totals or the largest irradiance number on the product page.
