Applitools’ August 5, 2022 roundup gathers videos and event sessions spanning UI/UX and frontend testing, browser-framework comparisons, coded and codeless automation, autonomous testing, and customer implementation stories. The descriptions are useful as a viewing guide, but they reflect how the publisher presented those sessions at the time.
The roundup also reports that Applitools surveyed more than 800 testers, developers, designers, and digital thought leaders for its State of UI/UX Testing: 2022 Results work. That is a figure reported by the roundup; it should not be read as a representative industry estimate.

It points to a webinar with Applitools’ Dan Giordano and a downloadable report. The roundup gives the survey count but does not establish that its respondents represent the wider testing industry.

Front-End Test Fest: the opening keynote
Andrew Knight’s opening keynote, The State of the Union for Front End Testing, is described as covering seven trends. The roundup also points to an event recap and video library. It does not list the seven trends in its own text, so the session itself is the source to consult for their substance.
Cypress versus Playwright: watch the code, not a scorecard
In Let the Code Speak, Andrew Knight and Filip Hric worked through small JavaScript coding challenges, while a live audience voted for its preferred solutions. Hric also wrote a recap that included the final score, according to the roundup.

This format can help viewers compare how the participants express solutions and make implementation choices. It is not a controlled performance benchmark, and an audience vote is not a universal verdict on which framework a team should choose.

The session is most useful as a prompt for evaluating fit rather than as proof that one style is generally superior. When comparing approaches for a specific team, consider:
- Programming fluency: how comfortably the people who will create and maintain tests can work with code.
- Control: whether the test logic and workflow need code-level flexibility.
- Onboarding and maintenance: who will build tests, review changes, and keep them working over time.
- Integrations and coverage: whether the approach supports the team’s required tools, workflows, browsers, and UI coverage.
Those are decision criteria, not conclusions established by the roundup.

Autonomous testing and future-facing ideas
The roundup describes a Q&A between Applitools co-founder and CEO Gil Sever and QA Financial about autonomous testing, cloud advances, AI, and possible future directions. Treat predictions or outlooks in this 2022 session as views expressed at that time, not as settled descriptions of current capabilities.
