What is Telly, and what does the TV include?
Telly pairs a 55-inch 4K HDR main display with a second Smart Screen and an integrated six-speaker soundbar, according to its product page. The company also lists video calling, a home feed, music, voice control, motion-tracking fitness, mood lighting, and games as features. These are Telly’s descriptions of the product, not independent performance tests.
The lower screen is the defining feature: it can show ads while the main display is being used. It is not limited to advertising, however; Telly also describes it as a place for content, information, and controls.
How does the free-TV offer work?
Telly says brands pay to advertise on the second Smart Screen and that advertisers and data partners help fund the device. Its official materials call the advertising “non-intrusive,” but the practical trade-off is a persistent advertising-capable display in the living room. Whether that feels unobtrusive is a matter of preference.

In a launch-era interview published May 15, 2023, Fast Company quoted founder and CEO Ilya Pozin describing the business model as supported by advertising, data, and affiliate revenue. What do you have to agree to?
“Free” does not mean that Telly describes the device as an unconditional gift. Its Help Center says it requires a credit card for identity validation, fraud protection, and compliance with the terms. Telly also says it may restrict access, make a device unusable, or require its return if it determines that the terms have been violated.
Under the policy published August 19, 2025, if Telly instructs a user to return the device and the user does not comply, the company says it may charge $1,000 to the card on file. What should you know about privacy and ad targeting?
AdExchanger reported on September 9, 2026, that Telly uses household questionnaire responses together with automatic content recognition (ACR) data to support ad targeting. ACR is a method of identifying content displayed or played on a screen. The report also describes Telly making second-screen home-screen advertising available programmatically, using Magnite’s SpringServe ad server and citing demand from The Trade Desk, Teads, and others. Telly’s eligibility FAQ says internet-connected homes in the United States may join the waitlist if they agree to the terms. Its international-availability FAQ, last updated December 5, 2024, says Telly is available only in the United States; that dated statement may not reflect later changes. Telly Help Center
Telly says its first units began shipping in July 2023, according to a Help Center article dated December 5, 2024. That historical start date is not a current delivery estimate. The company’s available materials do not state a current inventory count or wait time, so a reservation should not be read as a promise of a particular delivery date. Is a Telly worth considering?
Telly may appeal if you want the second-screen features and are comfortable exchanging some control over the screen experience—and accepting the associated terms—for no stated upfront hardware price. A conventional TV is the more straightforward choice if you would rather pay for hardware than have a dedicated display designed to carry ads. Do not assume another 55-inch 4K TV includes Telly’s second screen, soundbar, or services; those are different product configurations.

- Consider Telly if its extra screen and integrated features are useful to you, you accept advertising in the room, and you are comfortable reviewing its data practices and return terms.
- Consider buying a conventional TV if you prefer an ad-free physical display, want a clearer upfront transaction, or need a dependable delivery timeline before committing.
- Pause before reserving if the card-on-file requirement, potential return obligation, or unanswered privacy details are deal-breakers.
