TechRadar’s 31-question Harry Potter quiz uses your technology preferences and choices in hypothetical situations to give you a Hogwarts-house result. Treat it as entertainment: the quiz presents a playful personality-quiz outcome, not a validated psychological assessment or a guide to which products are best.

What the tech-and-Harry-Potter quiz does

The quiz turns answers about devices, brands, features and everyday tech decisions into a Hogwarts-house result. Its questions range from what you might buy to how you would respond when a device or plan does not behave as expected. The choices are there to make the quiz engaging; they do not amount to product tests or evidence-based comparisons.

TechRadar’s page also says, “When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.” That is the publisher’s disclosure about its own links, not a guarantee about product availability or any other publisher’s affiliate program.

What the 31 questions cover

The questions move across consumer technology and imagined situations rather than staying within one product category.

Devices, brands and features

  • Headphones: the opening question asks which brand you buy, with Bose, JBL, Sony and Sennheiser as options. These are brand-level choices; the quiz names no models and does not identify a best brand.
  • Computers, browsers and laptops: choices touch on computer platform, browser, laptop ports and a possible impulse purchase of a modular laptop.
  • Phones and cameras: questions include choosing a phone from a non-major brand in 2026, choosing a folding phone, deciding what matters in a camera phone and selecting a first camera.
  • Gaming and entertainment: the quiz asks about gaming platforms and game preferences, as well as television priorities and what movie to choose.
  • Connected home and everyday devices: its options span speakers and music services, robot-vacuum features, smart lights, ereaders, kitchen gadgets and a soundbar setup.
  • Wearables and wellness: questions include smartwatch brands, sleep tracking and a fitness app.

Everyday tech situations

Other questions ask what you would do if your laptop were low on charge before a video call, whether you wait for discounts, how you react when cheap earbuds fail, how you handle headphone connection trouble, and which suggested route you would take on a commute. These prompts make the quiz about imagined decisions as well as stated preferences.

How to read the product choices

Product and service names in the questions are answer options, not endorsements. For example, the opening headphone prompt names Bose, JBL, Sony and Sennheiser but supplies no model numbers, test results, prices or comparison of sound, comfort, noise cancellation, durability or value. Choosing a brand in the quiz should not be read as a recommendation from the quiz.

The same caution applies to other named options, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome, Opera GX, Microsoft Edge, Ecosia, TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro, Motorola Edge 2026, Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, Fairphone 6 Plus, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Coros, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Garmin, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Spotify and YouTube Music. Their appearance in a hypothetical answer does not establish current specifications, release status, price or availability.

Who should take it?

It suits readers who want a quick, lighthearted quiz that turns tech habits into a Hogwarts-house result. If you are deciding what to buy, use product reviews and comparisons that evaluate specific models instead: this quiz asks about preferences and hypothetical behavior, not product performance.
