CES offered an early look: the Las Vegas show ran January 7–10, with Media Days on January 5–6. But a show-floor announcement, an industry award and a product you can buy are different things. This retrospective highlights selected announcements and launches—not a tested ranking or a complete list of the year’s releases—and identifies which details come from manufacturers.
What were the best new tech gadgets in 2025?
There is no single evidence-based “best” gadget in this selection: the available sources document announcements, product details reported by manufacturers and CES award recognition, not head-to-head testing. The most concrete mainstream example is Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series, which Samsung said went on sale in the U.S. on February 7, 2025. Other notable examples include Galaxy Buds3 Pro, recognized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), and Samsung’s announced 2025 television and projector features.
CES helps explain why AI was so prominent. CTA reported more than 3,400 submissions to the 2025 CES Innovation Awards across 33 categories, up 13% from CES 2024; submissions to the Artificial Intelligence category rose 49.5% year over year. These figures describe award submissions—not products sold, consumer demand or proven usefulness. CTA says an independent panel rates entries on innovation, functionality, aesthetics and design. A Best of Innovation award is recognition within that program, not a universal buying recommendation.
Which 2025 gadgets were announced at CES, and which became available?
The examples below have different evidence behind them. Samsung’s U.S. phone availability date is an explicit manufacturer announcement; many CES examples are show announcements or award recipients for which these cited sources do not establish current retail availability.

What changed in Samsung’s Galaxy S25 phones?
Samsung’s U.S. newsroom said the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra became available in the United States on February 7, 2025. Samsung presented One UI 7, Gemini integration and multimodal AI-agent interactions as central additions. Samsung described the Ultra model as adding a 50MP ultrawide camera sensor, alongside Virtual Aperture and Samsung Log. Those features may matter to people who want more camera controls, but the cited announcement does not establish how the phone compares with competing cameras in real-world use.

AI features can have conditions. Samsung said Galaxy AI features were free through 2025 and required a Samsung account; some functions also depend on internet access, language, device model and compatible software. That historical statement should not be read as a promise about pricing or eligibility after 2025. Before choosing a phone, check current terms for the specific feature you expect to use.
What did 2025 bring to earbuds and other mobile devices?
Galaxy Buds3 Pro
CTA named Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro a Best of Innovation recipient in its Headphones & Personal Audio category. Samsung separately described Galaxy AI-powered translated listening for certain situations. Translation is a manufacturer-described feature, and its usefulness depends on compatibility and supported languages; the award is not a comparison against other earbuds. Check fit, noise control, battery life, device compatibility and language support against your own needs.

CTA also recognized Garmin inReach Messenger Plus in Mobile Devices, Accessories, & Apps. That establishes award-program recognition, not whether the device suits a particular use or its current U.S. price and availability.
What was announced for TVs and home entertainment?
Samsung announced that Vision AI features would extend across a broad selection of its 2025 Neo QLED, OLED, QLED and The Frame screens. It also introduced The Frame Pro, which Samsung described as combining Neo QLED picture technology with Wireless One Connect, and Premiere 5, described as an interactive triple-laser ultra-short-throw projector. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent measurements of picture quality, brightness or usability. Samsung’s announcement also put its Art Store catalog at more than 3,000 curated works; that is a company-reported catalog count, not a measure of display performance. For a real purchase comparison, look beyond AI labels: consider room brightness, screen size, projector placement distance, connectivity, and independent picture-performance reviews. Also check whether particular art or AI features require an account, compatible devices or paid services. The cited announcement does not resolve those model-by-model purchasing details.

The show’s scope extended well beyond gadgets for the home. CTA’s retrospective highlighted digital health, energy transition, mobility, quantum technologies and sustainability as major areas. Some of these are better understood as industrial technologies, research directions or mobility concepts than as consumer products ready to buy.
How should you judge a 2025 gadget before buying it?
- Separate recognition from recommendation. An award indicates a product was recognized under stated criteria; it does not show that it is the best value or the right fit for you.
- Check what is actually available. A CES unveiling does not by itself confirm a retail launch. Verify the exact model, configuration, region and current stock.
- Read AI feature conditions. Confirm supported language and region, account requirements, internet access, compatible devices and software, and any current charges.
- Compare the fundamentals. For phones, weigh camera controls, battery, display and software support as well as AI features. For earbuds, compare fit, noise control, battery and compatibility. For TVs and projectors, consider room conditions, placement and independent picture tests.
- Use independent evidence for performance claims. Product announcements explain what a company says it built; they do not substitute for comparative testing.
